Wahoo....someone called me out. Dont you know not to do that....I always have ammo, and it aint blanks. Why I posted Sham....I still have a strong feeling the Sham will be built....was on Main Staurday night at the Grasshopper. There is activity still over at this site.....I wonder why? Soil samples (as speculated) cant take this long. I believe the the delay for this whole tower is due to the redesign of the whole tower, which it literally got trimmed in half due to unforeseen sight restrictions. Working as in engineer, I know a total redesign of anything will obviously delay a project. You guys should be patient.....this tower will happen. Mark my words. 2...(THIS IS WORD, YOU CAN QUOTE ME) My Cousin is a store manager in NYC @ the Times Square Store, She has helped opened up numerous around the country, recently in Boston. She herself told me she might be coming to Houston soon. No timetable has been set but when she does....I will be glad to meet everyone at the HAIF forum and here at a bar to introduce you to her, just to back up my words. I will go that far..... You might say....well if you knew this, why not post it. For one, I know some people might not believe me over there (HAIF) due to the fact that I'm a newby with that "my source is my relative" crap. Heck, I wouldnt believe myself. So why post it....I've seen what this can do to a poster many times here at CC. I'm not fallin for that. My plan was to wait until I can get more concrete evidence to back my claim that Virgin will join the Pavillions project. I guess that plan aint happenin now...but I have no regrets spilling what I know. Everyone here at CC knows my past....when I speak, it happens. I'm not sayin I'm god but rarely, if ever, have I been wrong on info I have spilt. Thanks to what I know on these two situations, I dont suspect I will be wrong here either. I'm willing to bet on it.....
You "have a feeling" that the Shamrock will be built? Oh boy. The reason it's delayed is clearly because they don't have enough people signed up for the thing. Without the pre-sales, they don't build. That's why that trailer is sitting there trying to sign people up. This thing was supposed to have started construction some time ago. What's your "feeling" on Ballpark Place, while you're at it? On the Virgin store, I'm not going to disagree with you, but if you think that your cousin's words that she "might" be coming to Houston is good enough, I can't argue with you. Of course I could make something up like my sister's fiancee's god-mother's butler said that the Pavillions won't be built, but instead those blocks would be torn up pavement serving as parking lots, too. Who's going to prove me wrong??
That's why I said I wonld not have posted what I knew....until I got "called out" that is. Take what I said however you want....I know what's really goin down and that's all I care about.
Thanks for the info tigereye. All looks pretty cool and if I ever consider moving back to Houston I would be glad to consider living in the new shamrock tower. I work in architecture so I'll have to check out that HAIF site.
Better evidence than any you have provided. The only thing you have given in this thread is unfounded speculation, per your usual. There have been many examples of development along the Main Street rail line given and I have personally seen the corridor being developed. These changes are certainly not entirely attributable to rail, but rail influenced every one of these projects. To claim otherwise is to ignore facts, again per your usual.
Look...there's been substantial development around rail lines in other towns. We've had this rail line here for about 1.5 years now, I guess. We MIGHT want to give it a little more time before we declare victory or defeat on that count. Now if you want to argue about development around new ballparks and stadiums, I'd be happy to entertain that. After 5 years of MMP, I'm not real encouraged on that count.
I don't think anybody is claiming victory. I said it myself earlier...like Iraq, we'll need to look back at it in 15 years to see how it turned out. In the meantime, the only thing we can do is to look at current progress. So in less than 2 years, we already see lots of movement. So BigTexxx implied there is NO development around LTR. He has been clearly proven wrong...yet he is unwilling to admit it. And then claims he is too busy to respond.
I know. I was just agreeing with your assessment that it is too early to draw firm conclusions at this stage. Nevertheless, we definately are seeing lots of progress so I'm optimistic. Tigereye, thanks for jumping in here. I had not heard about the Houston Pavillions yet. That sounds like a great project and look forward to hearing more about it. BigTexxx, many of these "developments" will fall through before completion. Others will pop up that we haven't heard about yet. Point being, people are actively looking to build in the area.
You're all about the insults, again. Nice of you to come seek me out since I've been ignoring your divel of late.
I didn't say there has been NO development. Don't exaggerate like andymoon does to try to prove a point. I said that the development hasn't met the fantasy-land growth projections that were trumpeted about by Metro and the rail supporters who want to see cool-looking things on the streets instead of traffic relief.
You might want to reread what I said. I said you IMPLIED NO DEVELOPMENT. Growth projections? In 1.5 years? Give me a break. Nobody projected NYC style urban growth in 1.5 years. Please show me where Metro said anything like that? Please, show me. You asked for concrete examples and I delivered. Now you illustrate to me when Metro talked about "fantasy-land growth projections." Thanks in Advance. Besides, who conceives, gets financing for and builds large developments in 1.5 years. We showed you a pattern of activity in the early stages of development.
If love was a train I think I would ride a slow one One that would ride thru the night Making every stop If love was a train I would feel no pain and I would never get off If love was a train I think I would ride me a long one Hear me talking I'm talking fifty boxcars long Aw, what's the use? Most trains these days Ain't got no engine Much less a caboose woo woo! Look out here she comes Look out there she goes If love was a train I'd throw my body on her tracks If love was a train I'd throw my body right down on her tracks If love was a train I would feel no pain As she rolled right down my back But love ain't no train More like a broncing bull And the most you get's 15 seconds In that saddle And even if you manage to ride You are all shaken up inside And it's gonna be a long time Before you ride that bull again If love was a train But love ain't no train...
If you think pointing out the fact that you don't substantiate your claims is an insult, then yes, I am insulting you. Drivel - To talk stupidly or childishly. D[r]ivel is YOUR middle name. I use substantiated arguments with evidence to back them up. You are the one who spouts unfounded claims and engages in vitriolic liberal bashing. I did not seek you out. I would sooner seek out an enema than engage in the type of "debate" that you seem bent on pursuing.

I hear the train a comin' It's rollin' 'round the bend, And I ain't seen the sunshine, Since, I don't know when, I'm stuck in Folsom Prison, And time keeps draggin' on, But that train keeps a-rollin', On down to San Antone. When I was just a baby, My Mama told me, "Son, Always be a good boy, Don't ever play with guns," But I shot a man in Reno, Just to watch him die, When I hear that whistle blowin', I hang my head and cry. I bet there's rich folks eatin', In a fancy dining car, They're probably drinkin' coffee, And smokin' big cigars, But I know I had it comin', I know I can't be free, But those people keep a-movin', And that's what tortures me. Well, if they freed me from this prison, If that railroad train was mine, I bet I'd move out over a little, Farther down the line, Far from Folsom Prison, That's where I want to stay, And I'd let that lonesome whistle, Blow my Blues away.
I'm on the freedom train Come on dance on the freedom train It's on the freedom train yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Come on dance on the freedom train
Driving that train, high on cocaine, Casey Jones is ready, watch your speed. Trouble ahead, trouble behind, And you know that notion just crossed my mind. This old engine makes it on time, Leaves Central Station 'bout a quarter to nine, Hits River Junction at seventeen to, At a quarter to ten you know it's travlin' again. Driving that train, high on cocaine, Casey Jones is ready, watch your speed. Trouble ahead, trouble behind, And you know that notion just crossed my mind. Trouble ahead, Lady in red, Take my advice you'd be better off dead. Switchman's sleeping, train hundred and two is On the wrong track and headed for you. Driving that train, high on cocaine, Trouble ahead, trouble behind, And you know that notion just crossed my mind. Trouble with you is the trouble with me, Got two good eyes but you still don't see. Come round the bend, you know it's the end, The fireman screams and the engine just gleams...
I named my summer league Ultimate team SOUL TRAIN this year. That's one of my favorite Michelle Shocked songs, by the way.
