Kaepernick is a mediocre QB at best. The 49ers weren't much better under him than they were under Alex Smith. Without a dominant D and running game we see what happens.

So no thanks, we need to go after somebody who may actually be good, not just better than our current garbage.

Not that I'm fighting for Kaep, just gotta defend him on your first comment...

That is totally false, not even 2 years ago this guy was the REAL deal. He beat Aaron Rodgers and co. not once but TWICE in the playoffs and got his team to the SB... with multiple NFC Championship appearances. No matter who you talked to then he was the man in San Fran... people had forgotten everything about that small Alex Smith vs. Colin Kaepernick saga midseason.

Now, their team is not doing well because their o-line is sh** the defense has lost way too many players and he has no help on the outside in terms of weapons.

I believe at a very fair price he'd be much worth the risk.....

Another thing I want to add is, why not bring in more than one WB? Is that a forbidden now in the league. Groom the young guy will a stable starter is already in place. Not saying Kaep will be that guy just saying you bring in a vet ala Kurt Warner to groom and mentor an Eli Manning. Hey, it could happen!

Build through the draft. I'd rather have Hackenberg.

As he said, they had a dominant defense and running game.

When Alex Smith was there, they were the "real deal" too.

Maybe Jim Harbaugh knew what he was doing.

I think it's time to bring back Sage "Human Helicopter" Rosenfels.

When Alex Smith was around they were on the cusp of becoming the real deal. Once Kaep took over he took them over the top.... just one play away from a SB ring... people forget quickly once someone starts hitting the bottom.

    Uh... Hell yes I would.

Sign him up AND look for another QB early in the draft. Stop f'n around with the QB position and actually steps towards improving it. If you do it and fail you're in the same boat as you were before.

The guy has an arm but no accuracy. His mechanics are some of the worst ever, and if it isn't fixed by now, it wont ever be. He is who he is. An athlete playing QB. Even with Harbaugh last year he was bad. He hit his peak and stopped developing.

His contract is also a non issue since it isn't guaranteed at all. If SF is smart, they will move on from him after the year is over.

Yes; in 2013... it's almost 2016 and he's been in steady decline, really since 2012:

    '12: 93.3 rating; 8.6 YPA; 3 INTs
    13: 91.6 rating; 7.8 YPA; 8 INTs
    '14: 86.4 rating; 6.9 YPA; 10 INTs
    '15: 82.8 rating; 6.7 YPA; 11 INTs (pace)

    And these aren't issues here?

The Texans don't need to invest in another late 20s QB who has fallen on hard times. They need to find a 22-year old stud they groom and grow.

I was never a huge fan of his because of his throwing mechanics. For a couple years he was pretty good, but he's been figured out by now apparently.

Plus, IIRC, he's getting paid a ton. And if he came here and played like he's playing now, he'd be immovable.

Not enough upside to be worth the risk.

For free I'd take anyone. If there's a salary hit, hell no. I'd rather just be bad than waste my time.

Hell no..Kap would do quite well I think on Philly running that system.

Besides QB is not our only weakness. I dont feel like there is a good enough QB in the next draft that warrants a 1rd pick. We need to build our lines starting with the Oline. Rick Smith has put us in the position of a total and complete rebuild. Guys like JJo, Cushing, Wilfork, Moore, most of the OL, all the TEs all need to be gone and replaced. Start with Oline and some DB's. We will continue to suck for next year and probably the year after but Im hoping Smith is fired and his replacement can actually get us players we keep in rounds 1-3. But maybe thats too optimistic.
