That was unbelievable! Between Morton's incredible start, Bregman's throw home and Lance's curveball/slider, that was an amazing game. Minute Maid Park was absolutely rocking. So glad I went to the game! I don't think we will ever see 28 straight curveballs thrown in a game again.
He was mixing up throwing it for strikes and putting it in the dirt. When you can reliably get a called strike it means the hitter has to basically guess whether or not it's hittable, and even when it is hittable it's really hard to hit well. A couple of looks at him means you may be able to adjust, when you get just one look you are basically f**ked.
UnReal !! He's got a GREAT one. Hopefully he's not over-taxing himself. _____ OP is a 99er I've never seen before, cool. Guess World Series berths have that effect.
Like Mike Scott’s splitter, Nolan Ryan’s fastball, it can’t be hit. He’s an ace if you ask me. But at the very least an All star.
I was on the edge of my seat and he kept telling McCann and Correa "I got this! I got this!" He was really animated.
You could tell from his demeanor and how he spoke after the game he was really pissed about being pulled in game 4
It won't get the credit it deserves but 28 straight filthy as Upton curveballs is one of those small things that should become legendary in baseball playoff lore.
That was a superb performance by McCullers. What a way to get his first career save. And Mortons performance cannot be overlooked, simply a "wow" performance. Especially when it was for all the marbles against his childhood favorite Yankees.
I think Kieth Hernandez was mentioning it in the post game show, it isn't good for your arm. You have to mix in some fastball. It was a game 7, but throwing a fastball here or there would have been ok.
Lance has said a couple of times that he feels like the curveball is actually less stress on his arm than the fastball. Don’t know if that is true (specifically for him), but he’s always been a very heavy curveball pitcher. Hernandez was a 1B, so I’d take it with a grain of salt.
Did anyone else catch McCuller`s catching himself before dropping a Fudge on live TV? It was awesome.
Hinch is a genius. He purposely pulled LMJ in game 4 and lost us the game to light a fire on him so hot and so bright that it would lead to this emotional win in game 7. Hinch playing chess while everyone else is playing connect 4. GENIUS.
Article linked below is where they talked about being worried about the number of curves he was throwing and they brought him to see a TJ arm specialist and they did a bunch of tests on him and found that to be true. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/216304372/lance-mccullers-gets-good-news-on-curveball/
