Yeah but they won't have any pg play for half the season and then turmoil and drama will happen to them once Isiah came back.
'Celtics Have Concerns About Kyrie Irving Re-Signing In 2019' Kyrie Irving can be a free agent in 2019 and the Boston Celtics may retain Terry Rozier until they receive a commitment from Irving. Rozier is scheduled to be a restricted free agent in 2019 as well. "I think they're scared," said Chris Mannix. "I think they're scared and should be scared to some degree of Kyrie Irving walking in 2019. I know he had a great year, but you know there are people in Cleveland that will tell you that the Knicks should be considered a real threat for Kyrie Irving. Because Kyrie had talked about it, about playing with the Knicks with some players in that Cleveland locker room from what I was told. "You know things can change. Obviously you go to Boston and you become the face of the franchise. You're on a winning team. Maybe the mindset has changed significantly?" Shams Charania replied to Mannix's assertion with the expectation from Irving that he would be with the Celtics over the long-term. "I know Kyrie Irving's mindset when the trade happened was 'Boston is my home for the foreseeable future.'"
Kyrie would be a jackass to leave. He honestly might be able to win A LOT of rings in Boston with Smart/Brown/Tatum. That could be like a 10 year dynasty if they play their cards right
I doubt Kyrie leaves Boston. It's the best basketball situation he can find anywhere. Not only they are primed to win championships with their youth and depth, he also has ties to the city through his father, and the team through Gordon Hayward (a good friend he recruited in the past) and Jayson Tatum (both Duke guys and share the same agent). He's also the alpha on the team, having the LeBron-on-the-Cavs role. Crazy things have happened, but I highly doubt this one.
Thanks for posting that. Makes it look more official; I was just going to say, "He isn't signing now because of the money difference between this summer and next. It's not as if he's going to say so at a press conference: 'Hey, have you seen the 2018 contract compared to the 2019? Come on, now.'"
''A league source said Friday that the Celtics believe Irving is happy in Boston and would like to be with the team long-term, but that there are no certainties.'' https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/...et/WQ5TfNyaTjbfD8nk7vmEBP/story.html#comments
