Anyone else feel like KPJ doesn't quite fit into our system? He seems to try too hard, and the offense just doesn't flow with him. I feel like KPJ is trying to be too flashy, rather than make the right plays. He seems like he is trying to get some highlights. He at times takes some difficult shots. I just feel like players can't get into a flow when he is our main ball handler. He may be a black hole at times, and it appears like he only plays for himself. With Jalen, it comes out as more fluid and natural. He looks so much better when KPJ is sitting on the bench. He plays with more confidence next to Nix. They know their roles and are aware that Jalen is the best player in that rotation. KPJ seems to believe that he is the best player on this team and that it is his team. Recently, I've been impressed by what I see when Jalen gets the ball and has more chances to control the offense.
I think he sucks, but there’s no system yet. The system needs to be built around whoever our best young guys are next year. Hopefully we get wemby/scoot and then we can actually try to build something
He fits fine. He just needs to learn when to pass the ball off to make the offense click. (Hint KPj: every time you bring the ball up)
Team is too young. Everyone try to go for highlight play. Same for KJ. After 2 handed dunk he always hang on the rim and swing. This time he kicked someone.
The tone in which Craig and Ryan make negative comments about his offensive plays or turnovers is hilarious. They're so sick of him as well. He actually played a decent game for the most part. Although some of his decision making is still absolutely hilarious even in a good game. My personal favourites were: - passing to Garuba for a made 3. Important to note, there was no defender between KPJ and Garuba, and Garuba still had to jump to catch the pass from going out of bounds. - passing to KJ on the fast break. Important to note, not only was he not aware of the trail defenders (that's another story, but lets disregard this and give him the benefit of the doubt) he still made such a horrible pass - with no pressure - so much so the ball went so high and so far away from the rim that even if there were no defenders KJ still wouldn't have been able to score. - attempting a wrap around pass that went directly out of bounds instead of to Sengun. Important to note, all he needed to do was jump and pass over the defender to a wide open Sengun. Instead he tried to be fancy and instead passed it to the crowd without Sengun coming close to collecting it.
lol...........................17/11/8/ 3 blocks and a steal and the best +/- on the team today and he doesn't fit He and Jalen share the ball most of the time when together
Just like when Jabari came down court and rushed a 3pt shot with nobody under the goal in the 4th qtr.. Rockets are just young!
Fans always RUSH to judgment. Last yr everyone was saying Garuba was a bust, now they're saying he's the best thing ever! Difference between him and KPJ, Garuba is playing the same position he has played all his life, he just had to get adjusted to the speed. KPJ is learning a different position, which just so happens to be the most important position on the basketball court.
I like him, he’s a good player he just shouldn’t be your primary ball handler. He’s simply not a good enough point guard.
I want to see him play next to veteran star players. I went to the game last night and it’s just striking to see Christian Wood play with Luka vs last night without. With players like this, I think the best thing they need is an alpha who can control the game offensively and make guys like this fall into line. Otherwise they are the ones making decisions to the teams detriment. KPJ is a far less selfish player, better decision maker, and much more liked by his teammates though fyi. It’s kinda hilarious watching Wood between plays and seeing what you don’t see on TV. His teammates really don’t like him at all.
Bringing up 'fit' on the worst team in the league is pretty funny. Would have been easier just to spit venom in one of the other 5 "KPJ is the Devil" threads dont you think?
The fact that we get a moronic thread like this immediately after a game where kpj played very well and was one of the top reasons the Rockets won is really all you need to know about these types of posters.
There is a system, it's based on making simple reads fast. It's why the Rockets look good and go right to the Sengun-Green PR early. It's how the Rockets occasionally looked semi competent even with stiffs like Schroder and DJ Augustin last year KPJ however makes the wrong reads and does it very slowly. And then scowls and gets upset and makes a big stink about it.
