I'm not saying what she did wasn't wrong but that I think the punishment might be excessive. There is a role for social shaming and for using the Internet call people out. The situation with Amy Cooper when she faked a 911 call because she was annoyed a birdwatcher is one of those times. That was a malicious act. This was crass and it should be called as that and she should be expected to make a public apology. Firing her and having that anchor on her future career prospects seems disproportionate to what she did.

Integrity matters - a company has a right to fire people who are stupid enough to show their stupidity on social media.

Fiona Moriarty-McLaughlin, a journalist at the right-wing publication Washington Examiner, reposted a video purportedly depicting "Paid #Antifa thugs" vandalizing the store — even though there is no evidence to suggest that the vandals were members of the movement. And Trump posted a video of a white protest organizer among a group of black protesters with the caption "Anarchists, we see you!"

She's peddling in propaganda - getting fired is a must, but there should be a higher punishment from society for people like this - people who try to pin blame on groups who are not guilty of the crime is very tactics used by anti-democratic movements throughout history.

And as I said her being a journalist makes it even worse.

If she was some random person I think public shaming would be sufficient, people do stupid ****.
