Well that sucks. The season isn’t over as the playoffs are more or less a crapshoot this season.

And Crane has said he will spend money even with the uncertainty of the off season coming up. Therefore, you could resign Springer and/or Brantley to go with Straw, Tucker, and Alvarez. I’m unsure what Click’s philosophy is when it comes to FA spending since this is a new environment for him, but Crane has kept mostly true to his word when it comes to roster moves.

I think you give it a couple weeks. Unless Whitley or whomever comes up throwing fireballs why hold onto Springer, Brantley, Reddick, and Gurriel if you aren't winning this season and it is their walk year? If Crane wants to sign one of them do it now. Otherwise, time to get what you can in trade and start thinking about next year and beyond.

And if it is TJ injury for Verlander, next year is boned as well since it is almost August already. Of course, the Astros are going to come out and say next man up blah blah blah.

Fire sale at this point is just laughable. There are going to be a ton of injuries the rest of the year. JV’s loss will obviously hurt, but he’s not the only star who will miss chunks of and/or entireties of the 2020 season. This season should never have been played, it was foolish from the outset. That said, we still have a very good roster. Playoff baseball is always a bit random and this year will be no different. The injury is concerning but he was throwing as well as ever, so hopefully this is but a blip for JV is a truly unimaginable year.

With the expanded playoffs, Astros are still making the postseason but it may have the feel of an NBA 5-8 seed that you don't think has a chance.

Compared to last year we're short of a Verlander and a Cole. I had hopes of LMJ becoming a strong pitcher for us. No hope now.

Why have you given up on LMJ?

Losing Verlander is straight up garbage, but let's pump the brakes on giving up for the season. The offense will need to carry us, and the young guys in the rotation will need to step up big time.

The playoffs will be wild anyways so I'm not going to lose optimism just yet. Can't wait to get Alvarez and Urquidy back. Strom is the GOAT. Let's see if he can work his magic again, and I think Dusty will be good for the clubhouse given this type of loss.
