ESPN's Jeffrey Denberg, when writing about how the Lakers willwin the championship for the next 100 years, had this to say about the Mavs:

That said, Dallas is intriguing, especially if Don Nelson can get inside O'Neal's head with the Hack-a-Shaq defense. But the Mavericks have to win a playoff series before anyone can take them seriously.

So I guess the fact that they beat the Jazz and played 10 games in the postseason means they are still pretenders?

    I have no other
ransom money, nothing to break or barter but my life
my spirit measured out, in bits, spread over
the roulette table, I recoup what I can
nothing else to shove under the nose of the maƮtre de jeu
nothing to thrust out the window, no white flag
this flesh all I have to offer, to make the play with
this immediate head, what it comes up with, my move
as we slither over this go board, stepping always
    (we hope) between the lines

You know that Jazz/Spurs series was a classic in the playoffs. I can't believe that Donyell Marshall injured Derek Anderson though. That screwed them up. I wonder if Denberg thinks Miami should keep their team. Afterall, they DID sweep Charlotte and take Milwaukee to 7 games in the 2nd round. Classic series!

Psshh. It was Orlando that took them to 7, and made it to the Finals to face the Suns!

Oh, right! The Clippers went through the Suns in the CONFERENCE FINALS.

Also, remember that memorable sweep through the playoffs by the Suns last year?

They beat the Minneapolis Lakers in the first round, St. Louis Blackhawks in the second, and they KILLED the Memphis Express in the Conference Finals.

They had a tough time against the New York Liberty, but managed to sweep them, too.

Is it any wonder that in the Rocky Mountain Revue, there isn't ONE Dallas game televised?

Heck, even Houston is going to get some airtime.
