wow a trade! Hadn't seen one of this for a while. Utah seems very desperate. Giving two 2nds for Clarkson?
Exum has an extra year on his deal (9.5 mill) and seems like a dead weight contract. He's played a total of 80 minutes for them this year, and has looked awful his entire career. Clarkson is having a career year, with a TS% of 58%, shooting efficiently on 2 made 3's per game, very good at driving to the basket, good size for a guard. Considering the Jazz's 2nds are very likely going to be 48+, I think this trade was easily a win for them.
I don't think Clarkson is quite as terrible as everyone is making him out to be. He probably takes Mudiay's spot in the rotation plus some. They need offense, even if he's a black hole he can at least put up points.
I don't like the player, but i wouldn't say he is terrible, kinda bad yeah though, in my view he's just another small SG who likes to dominate the ball and chuck while playing zero defense, actually the most anti Jazz archetype of player i can think of lol. He might have better numbers lately, i don't question Lowe also cause i haven't watch him at all, but i wouldn't trust a few months in a tanking enviroment over something like 5 years in the league...he also played the playoffs once and if those numbers are an indications well, good luck with that. Aren't also the Jazz more in need of defense actually? I might be wrong now, but i think i read something about their summer moves making them better on offense but worse then expected on D...all things considered though, i think the Jazz did this just to dump a dead weight in terms of roster spots and cap, wouldn't be shocked to see them trade Clarkson and a 1st for a better player. Exum has to be damaged goods for real.
It's no coincidence that Utah turned things around after making this trade. I have to give the Jazz credit. If they can get anything out of Conley, thier guard rotation should be pretty nice.
After a decent game against NOLA? Ok. We'll se how good he is in the playoffs. If he does great shame on me and good for the Jazz.
