Yep. Same goes with sold out music festivals like austin city limits. Sometimes they think it is more cost effective to accept that some people will sneak in instead of hiring more security to enforce it.
I get that but I think as an employee . . .. who has time to monitor the ice cream machine The loss of a few cones it not killing them . . . so they probably not too concerned. I don't randomly go there just for the ice cream but I generally get one when ever I go . . . maybe even two I guess is someone takes the free candy at a restaruant type of thing . . . . never gave it much thought Rocket River
In an ironic twist, you didn't mention the fact that you and your coworkers get to Jason's Deli before the secretary and have been stealing the ice cream daily and have been doing so for years.
Never been to a Jason's Deli. I've known a couple Jasons in my life and they never really impressed me. So no interest in the deli.
I'll order a sandwich and while I am waiting for it to be served I will go over to the salad bar and take 2 hard boiled eggs and some hummus.
Whatever they put on the lettuce and veggies to keep them looking fresh gives me the bubble guts. So...free or not, I stay away.
I work across the street from a Jason's. Great location, just because the employees are all super-nice. One time, I accidentally ordered takeout from a different location. Showed up at my store and they just waved it off... no worries, have a seat and we'll get it right out to you... Anyway, whenever I don't order a salad bar, the manager (who's also their food runner) always tells me to help myself to "crackers, bread, pasta salad" at the salad bar. Maybe this is a special location? Maybe that excludes actual salad? But... have I ever walked in from the street and immediately jumped into the line? no...
Jason's Deli is very good but very expensive. Most not all but most sandwich places are when you really think about it
When we worked in the Allen center Downtown (not sure if this is the same Jason's Deli), we'd go get some ice cream. One of my co-workers had cold feet about it, so he went to the cashier and asked to pay for ice cream. "Ma'am, I wanted to get some ice cream, but haven't eaten here, how much should I pay" - Buddy "It's free ice cream." - Cashier "Yes, I know, but I'm not a paying customer, I haven't actually bought anything." - Buddy "It's still free ice cream." - Cashier He never had cold feet about it again. So I disagree that its only for paying customers.
This is the exact Jason's deli I'm talking about. So I guess this is an open invitation for everyone to take advantage of the complimentary ice cream. I'd say this Jason's Deli is probably the best location to not feel shame.
Who knows maybe said co-woworker buys something on occasion as well even if it's just a drink ... even if not they're (owners) still winning since they calculated the ice cream into the profits and losses even people didn't pay for anything else. Never heard of Jason's deli but I'm assuming it's ice cream from one of those soft serve machines like DQ or Micky D's where it's pre-mixed and comes out of a machine. Pretty sure they gotta empty, clean and sanitize the machine after closing every day and a lot of it prob goes to waste anyways.
Yeah cuz ain't nobody running into Jason's Deli with Chinese take out boxes and stealing salad. That's just you bro
