What an awesome story. He's a no-hitter away from the next great baseball movie being made about him.
Kinda of an interesting relationship Lane and the Padres have. They sign him at some point every year, and when it comes time to let him go when they don't need him anymore, he goes right back to Sugar Land until they need him again.
He played in 2 games for the Padres in the last 7 years, and they were all in 1 call up.. this year. Anyway, super happy for Lane. Hoping for a quality start...that would be a huge success. Anything more, gravy. Hoping to watch!
That's true, but I thought they had signed him to a couple of minor league deals along the way as well. Could be wrong on that, though.
Congrats to Lane. I'm happy for him. It's very impressive how he's turned his career around. He's still the guy that caught the last out in the 2005 NLCS. Not sure why anyone would have negative things to say about him.
DFA'ed again. Hoping he can grab on with another ML team...maybe a contender could aim to use him at a LH RP?
