They are not doing it the right way. KPJ is taking shots away from Green, you got to prioritize one over the other. I know KPJ probably had a good stretch of games lately, but keep eyes on the game. And benching Christopher and Senguen ain't the right way. Tough business.
development of what? development of losers? I haven’t seen any development in Jalen Green since Summer League. I do see development in the guy, Josh Christopher, who was sent to the G-league and had to fight for playing time. Wanting to win in 2022 is not about wanting a certain number of wins and losses, it’s about building a winning culture, based on holding players responsible and rewarding performance and progress.
yes, like Kobe Bryant, Yao Ming, James Harden and many other HOFers who started their careers on the bench.
You don't like what you see, but the Rockets organization is prioritizing development, everyone including non Rockets fans can see it. They just do not believe in the brand of development you're hoping to see and it won't change this season. You can write a note to yourself that on whichever day you decide to compare your metrics with their metrics this season, they are going to show that in some areas you consider important, little to nothing was done. It's the only logical outcome since they are not applying your strategy, they are applying their strategy.
Whatever, everyone has some subjective gripe with it or a way they would perfect it, the point is that they are prioritizing development in a way that wins are not the dominant factor in determining if we have the right culture. You don't have to agree with it, that's just what they're doing.
yes, agree. I don’t like the way things are going, I would do it differently, but that’s not a proof that my way is the correct way. OTOH their strategy hasn’t proven anything, either, and when applied at other places has bombed badly. Installing losing mentality, promoting unproductive players has been a hallmark of trash franchises and has alienated fan bases. So you should write a note to yourself that if the trash basketball continues you’ll see more and more gripes and grumbling from the fan base.
They sure are worried about winning games otherwise wouldn't play CWood major minutes, and still play Gordon most games. It is a balance act they are doing. But yes, they are accomplishing neither at a good level. Being relatively competitive like the Spurs and reasonable development. But you are right that I do not have to agree, I do not, most of all they are not being transparent enough. Mostly the GM.
You could totally be right and have evidence to support it, but they're going to be doing their way every day for the rest of the season. Seems like something to shrug about and move on to other narratives that interest you. I'm indifferent, I think both can work so the debate especially doesn't interest me. We always come back to a philosophical difference with how they're running the team and always come to the same conclusion. It's the same convo dressed up ten different ways. So for example gripes about Jalen earning minutes: circular and boring, the same thing is going to keep happening, he's going to be given preferential treatment. Gripes about Jalen's actual abilities: always interesting to me, things change over time.
Just read the title of the thread. He already has been benched with a less than minor injury then out for weeks. It didn’t help. Him telling the media he wants to play and what not. Remember he went out after a very positive first quarter after Silas made an adjustment to his beloved offense. Green came back and looks similar to his play before the adjustment. (Note we all saw other players (not even in the league) find a lot of success in his absence, even getting NBA contract)
What? He came back from injury and played loads better, his regression back to his pre-injury play came recently in the last few games.
Players don't get better by sitting on the bench. You don't bench a 19 year old you just took with the 2nd pick in the draft. This isn't a team vying for a playoff spot. The development of the young guys is more important than winning any single game.
You need to make a decision on KPJ before you make a decision on Green, so KPJ should be the priority. DD
As long as said player is under contract long term so the TEAM benefits from it. Wood, Tate & Porter need longer contracts or moved. Team benefit should be our only true concern.
I agree with you 100%. The Rockets are desperate right now and just looking for anything to see if it works. Jalen Green is a raw talent that could be great some day, but now is not the time. I still feel we should have gotten Mobley. But, it is what it is. Jalen Green in my opinion is still a project.
