In Utah, they probably don't allow Fapping. So I'd say yes my friend. They are still Satan incarnate.
Seems like the new Jazz owner is every fan's dream - a guy who grew up being a fan of the team, and probably won't hesitate to spend.
dude, his net worth is $1.3b ... demonstrably less that Tilman That company he founded only makes $200-300m in revenue. He's youngest NBA owner now (no?), and a billionnaire because he sold Qualtrics for $8b, but there were 4 founders. It was his father, brother and him, along with a 4th guy who founded it. I'm sure they split it, together with capital gains tax, so out pops $1.3b. Maybe his father and brother will give him loans for free agency, to help the Jazz?
I'm talking more about different mindsets of owners. Some owners are content with just the prestige of having an NBA franchise, and aren't looking to win anything. But if you actually grow up as the fan of a particular team, as an owner of that team you will try to do anything that's in your hands to make that team a winner. And you don't necessarily have to spend only your own net worth for salaries, there's plenty of other ways to generate those funds (whether it's from profits of the team/arena, or the support from other shareholders etc).
mindset without cash to spend does nothing except fool fans. we've been down this road, and Jazz fans might be primed to find out that this Ryan Smith guy has no money to spend.
We'll see. It's possible that he's gonna be another Tilman. But if he has any passion for the Jazz, he will find a way to make them better.
Passion without money to compete with the truly rich is empty promises to fans. $1.3b net revenue seems very low Smith isn't more a Jazz fan than Tilman is a Houston sports fan. We all know this about Tilman...that's why the BBS initially loved the sell, too
Well it seems that the Vivint Arena generates close to 20M in annual revenue alone. That's probably a big reason why he acquired both the Jazz and the arena at the same time. But yeah I agree that he definitely can't compete with the likes of Ballmer (both much richer and a very willing spender), but he and his circle (family? sharholders?) could definitely outspend Tilman and some other cheapest owners of the league.
Isn’t that pretty much the line we were fed when Tillman bought the Rockets though? “He’s a real Houstonian! A true Rockets fan, not like Les!” See how far that’s got us...
Are you from Houston? it is undeniable that Tilman demonstrated fanatical levels of support for the Rockets for decades. Go look at the Tilman Buys Rockets original thread. I was a STH, and he was at every game for years. He's pumped lots of money into Cougars sports. He loves the Texans. If we are just comparing pre-ownership history Ryan Smith, Tilman matches that fanatacism in spades. So, since Smith has less money than Tilman, his actions to spend on the team he loves, might not exceed Tilman. maybe he has minority partners and will eventually give up majority stake to salvage his ability to spend.
No, I'm Lithuanian. I was only evaluating Tilman on what's done after acquiring the Rockets. And most of it was ruining whatever chance this team had of winning the championship in Harden's prime.
