I think it was DD or someone, he can be the PG ala Ron Harper, Derek Fisher, Tony Parker, even the way Manu handled the PG duties off the bench sometimes, but he shouldnt be expected to be the primary facilitator,
The more he dribbles the worse he gets. Last year there was a chart that someone posted that showed how historically awful he would become after each successive dribble. On zero dribbles or 1 dribble, however, he can be fantastic. He needs to get better off the ball. He likes to stand and watch usually. He should check out Jam Murray...
Agreed. 100%. Goes back to my point in the other thread, these young guys need to be put in positions to succeed.
His scoring efficiency is way better off ball. One of the best in the league as a catch and shoot guy. Off the dribble he’s bad.
There is no way DD would say anything intelligible. That was @don grahamleone who said KPJ can be utilized like a Ron Harper or Derek Fisher.
He is good and bad at both on/off ball. He doesn't know how to move off ball. but has a good catch and shoot %, though on low volume, but still this is the most consistent (positive) thing about his shooting. When he has the ball, he cannot run a whole team but he can make some good plays at times. They never happen if he is past a few dribbles after he receives the ball. As he dribbles he becomes the worst player ever. He cannot create for himself or others. He should just limit the things he is doing on offense, move the ball first primarily, take the good catch and shoot 3s and create for others when the opportunity comes, not forcing to create.
Where is the “better off the bench” option? That’s no slight to him by the way because I think an off the bench scorer is an important part of a successful team but really he needs to be mr off the bench scoring spark plug and stop playing this charade as a guy who sets up others. He can do that but not near as well as when he plays aggressively as a scorer but he can get away with that playing style a lot better against second units than against first units. Why make the thing he does well be secondary to try to make him be something he is not? It’s just a simple skills utilization thing- yeah we NEED a true PG but let’s not call SG KPJ a PG if that’s not really his game just because it’s something you need. Just go trade for or sign one and push KPJ to the 6th man role and show him lots of tape of how Manu made the Spurs a dynasty by embracing that role.
Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. He can be a great Beal-type player but we tryna turn him into something he's not.
That game should tell you everything you need to know about the subject. The less decision making required from KPJ - it's for the betterment of the team. I thought he played a very good game today. (KPJ lovers will be in tears when I point them to this post in the future)
