Not terrified, no. But losing a top 4 pick in this draft is going to slow down any kind of rebuild. It will be painful, even if we keep the pick, but we could at least have a young stud to focus on and feel better about the Harden trade as well.
If we are not in the botton 4 we still have chances to get a top 4 pick. For example,if we are the 5th worse team, we have 42% chances at a top 4 pick, that we would keep
I hate to break the news to you but if we are the team with the worst record it's still only a 50/50 chance to get a top 4 pick.
Honestly pretty crazy. I hope the league feels like they owe us one considering our MVP just wanted to dip.
Imagine how much shittier it would feel if Oklahoma City was also tanking, which would also shrink the odds even more. Honestly I think Oklahoma City is foolish to not try and lose every remaining game to up their odds to ensure they have a top-4 pick and push Houston out of the top-4. In the end it's a damn gamble, but if Houston can keep its pick and even claim a top-2 pick which would be used on a sure-fire franchise-level player, then they realistically could expedite their rebuild. Oklahoma City will probably go the Spurs route and develop talent, but they, too, need top-5 draft picks. They might be too good for a top-5 pick for the foreseeable future, barring their own lottery luck.
Its not 0% unless they make the playoffs. With that said I play around with tankathon a lot and that 50-50 is def scary.
Its all or nothing for the Rox this season unfortunately. If they get top 2 pick that would be Evan Mobley who would pair with KPJ for the inside outside duo for next decade. If they whiff I expect a CF meltdown. OKC already has their own star in SGA. They prob more interested in developing him and Poku rather than being bad to get even more picks.
Why does this thread exist? Is there a rumour of John Wall being out for the rest of the season? That's the only way this happens.
Which do you prefer ? A 52% chance or a 42% chance ? I'll go with 52 .... Lowering your chances is just plain silly.
