Would someone with ESPN insider post Keith Law's Top 25 under 25 article? http://espn.go.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=5296 I'd like to see if Correa is the only Astros player or if McCullers/Reed/Bregman get some love too. Thanks and reps in advance.
It's a Majors only list, so Correa is the only one (at #8) 8. Carlos Correa, SS Houston Astros 2015 rank: NR (minor leaguer) The Astros' young star shortstop has had some growing pains this year, especially on defense, where it has become more apparent that both he and the Astros would be better served if he moved to third base. Everything that made Correa the American League Rookie of the Year winner last year is still here, though, from solid plate discipline (yes, even with the moderately high strikeout rate, he knows the strike zone well) to hand strength that creates so much hard contact. --------------- Interesting to note--Lindor and Bogaerts are listed at 6/7 above him right now. Top 5 are Trout, Harper, Machado, C Seager, K Bryant
[rquoter]1. Mike Trout(1) 2. Bryce Harper(2) 3. Manny Machado(3) 4. Corey Seager(NR) 5. Kris Bryant(NR) 6. Francisco Lindor(NR) 7. Xander Bogaerts(8) 8. Carlos Correa(NR) 9. Noah Syndergaard(NR) 10. Gregory Polanco(12) 11. Mookie Betts(5) 12. Jose Fernandez(16) 13. Jurickson Profar(NR) 14. Aaron Sanchez(NR) 15. Carlos Martinez(24) 16. Christian Yellich(7) 17. Nomar Mazara(NR) 18. Michael Fulmer(NR) 19. Joe Ross(NR) 20. Jonathan Schoop(NR) 21. Odubel Herrera(NR) 22. Vince Velasquez(NR) 23. Jon Gray(NR) 24. Addison Russell(NR) 25. Nick Castellanos(JM) Honorable mentions Joc Pederson, OF, Dodgers Aaron Nola, RHP, Phillies Max Kepler, OF, Twins Byron Buxton, OF, Twins Carlos Rodon, LHP, White Sox Taijuan Walker, RHP, Mariners[/rquoter]
No McCullers, lame. Not sure I agree with his assessment of SS to third. He did struggle but still appears to be a well above average at SS IMO.
Surprised to see Velasquez, Fulmer, Gray, Nola, Rodon but no McCullers. List is kind of a disappointment.
Correa isn't well above average defensively to this date. He's been fringe-average. Law probably still sees LMJ as a reliever.
His arm is well above average but his mobility is below average and he's probably average at making the routine plays. I'd agree with fringe average. He can handle the position but he's nothing special.
If they're going on stats / this season's issues, I get it...except for Rodon. No way he should be over LMC aside from lack of injuries Perhaps LMC is viewed as an "incomplete"
Could be but doubt it. Luhnow just recently said that Bregman could play in the outfield. Itll be awkward to tell your franchise player to move a spot over even though the star player has said he wants to remain at 2nd. Then again, he has a very mature level headed mind, so he may accept that role. It would be for the better imo. What do you do with Valbuena though?
Alex Bregman needs to be with Astros up soon. He is a superstar in the making. Sorry Correa, but Mr Bregman has arrived.
Info from Luhnow regarding that.... http://www.chron.com/sports/astros/...lex-Bregman-playing-shortstop-AAA-8345783.php
Really good trade bait as part of package for front line starter? Not that I don't believe him but could be GM-speak.
the SS depth is absurd. Unprecedented. I love Correa, but man there are some really exciting other young SS in the game.
Keith Law has his predispositions, and it is very difficult for him to admit he is wrong about anything.
From his chat . . . [rQUOTEr]After experimenting 6 games at 3rd, Bregman’s been exclusively at ss. Any idea why if his fastest path to the majors is 3rd and he seems like he can help that lineup right now? Klaw: I think Correa is going to have to move to third, so perhaps the Astros are trying to prep Bregman to take over at short at some point.[/rQUOTEr] [rQUOTEr]L. McCullers didn’t even make honorable mention in your article despite racking up 4.2 WAR (per Fangraphs) and having a better FIP than Martinez, Ross and Gray–all while being the youngest of the group (2 years younger than Gray and Martinez). Please explain. Klaw: Because I have serious concerns about his delivery holding up in the rotation, and he’s already had one bout of shoulder trouble, as well as whether he’ll ever have average command. This was not a statistical ranking of players.[/rQUOTEr]
