Disregard. He is just a knee guy who was speculating. But I wouldn’t be shocked at this point. Not even running yet? What kind of injuries take this long that don’t require intervention?
Yeah its definitely concerning. Especially considering Altuve himself said shortly after that he hoped to play that following Friday. It must be way worse than originally anticipated.
Look I’m not mad about this, I’m just saying it is what it is with the MO of this front office- never believe anything you hear with any kind of rosy timeframe. This Altuve think is data point 20 or so along those lines.
"We think he'll be back in a couple of weeks." What do you want them to say? What can they say? This isn't the NFL where they have to put out weekly injury reports to satisfy the degenerate gamblers.
It was more Hinch on the day they placed him on the DL saying it was precautionary and hearing that Altuve was ticked about being on the DL and didn’t think he’d even have to miss 10 games. Same with Correa. Springer missing half the season in 2014 played out similarly. I’m not mad about it. I’m literally just saying don’t take it at face value when you hear a hopeful report We don’t have any need or right to know what’s going on with Altuve’s knee or Correa’s back or Marisnick’s groin or anything else. But when’s the last time (if ever) a guy has come back quicker than indicated?
Yea, feels like a pattern of “Injury isn’t serious/ we expect him back shortly” or some langauge to that effect and then boom they don’t play for 6 weeks.
Good news on everyone but Altuve...yet he's the one we need back the most. It's starting to make me nervous. I thought at first that Luhnow just entered "what would 10-15 days off do for Jose" in his supercomputer and it told him that'd result in a .450 batting average and a 1.015 OPS for the rest of the season, so they put him on the shelf. Now I'm starting to believe that his knee really is jacked. *sadface*
Is anybody 'that' worried that Altuve won't be able to hit when he comes back? The guy falls out of his bed and gets a double. God-given talent like that is a rare treat to observe.
Altuve getting hits and getting on base has a trickle down effect on the rest of the lineup and the impact on the opposing starting pitcher. Supporting players are never going to be good in a vacuume or without other stars... that's why they're "supporting" players.
I heard a rumor that AJ and crew are faking/exaggerating injuries to keep everyone fresh for the playoff run. Nah I just made that up, but what if?
