Kevin McCarthy on Democratic impeachment proceedings "They took it away from Nadler because they think Nadler's inept," McCarthy said. "They gave it to Schiff because he's more willing to lie, and they put it in Intel so he can hide what's going on."
The house is Democrat controlled and they just need a majority, that should happen. The Senate is Republican controlled and they need 2/3 to convict, so no way that happens. The whole impeachment process is a gamble by Democrats on whether it will help or hurt their cause. The Clinton impeachment happened during mid-terms and the Democrats picked up so many seats it led Newt Gingrich to resign. I think Pelosi is worried a repeat might happen where Republicans pick up seats and/or Trump wins the election.
The Democrats only gained 5 seats, but it was the first time since Andrew Jackson that a sitting president in his 6th year saw gains in the House by his own party. The Republicans still owned the house afterwards, however, and there were factions in the House that had been wanting to remove Gingrich for his ethics issues as well as his decision-making. The mid-terms were basically the final straw. One big difference between Clinton and Trump: Clinton’s popularity rating was in the high 50s-60s at that point in time of his presidency; Trump is currently in the low 40s. This also isn’t a midterm election coming up and it’s doubtful that Trump would gain that much more support because of impeachment than he has up to this point. Also, even though impeachment of Clinton may have backfired against the Republicans, they did end up picking up the Presidency and the two chambers in 2000 so it didn’t hurt them that badly long-term. However, I do agree with you that Pelosi is being very careful about this which is smart. Get your ducks in a row, let Trump and his folks hang themselves even more, and then come up with an airtight case and force McConnell to make the call.
Wait, what is this? Usually when Trump is surrounded by a crowd, they think he's so wonderful, and so smart, and so funny. Is this crowd made up of real Americans?
I think Trump is a pretty big Yankees fan and was a friend of Steinbrenner and Reggie Jackson. I’m guessing if had showed up at Yankee stadium during the ALCS he would’ve gotten booed even louder.
“gamble” is a political way to view it, but many of them just see it as their constitutional duty, given the blatant evidence of misdeeds. Some repubs as well, FWIW.
But does the Administration? “So, it’s a witch-hunt where the witches are the ones doing the hunting, which is categorically not what a witch-hunt is, in the same way a duck-hunt doesn’t mean a bunch of ducks hunting humans in the woods. Meanwhile, on the shirt, Trump is depicted as a flying superhero, which has no place in the witch genre, and the product description just confuses this issue further,” explained a chuckling Oliver. The product description of the ‘Stop the Witch Hunt’ T-shirt reads: “The only people scared this Halloween are Shifty Schiff, Nervous Nancy and Democrat Hack Jerry Nadler about their chances in 2020!” “So, to recap here: In this witch-hunt the witches, even though they are the hunter, are the scared ones—the only scared ones, in fact; it’s still ‘the greatest witch-hunt in the history of the USA’ but only three people are scared, and all of them are witches. This shirt makes no ****ing sense!” exclaimed Oliver. “And it prompts so many questions, my main one being: Does it come in a man’s extra-medium? Because I’m going to want a relic to show my grandchildren in the future when they refuse to believe that any of this **** ever happened.”
LOL... your cartoon is so yesterday (and thus, so wrong)... The first frame of the cartoon: The second frame of the cartoon: At this point, any focus on Congressman Schiff seems pretty silly, don't you think?
Bribery - a clear definition of bribery - I am not interested in the excuses of the Always Trumpers - we are getting to the truth now. DD
Lindsey Graham pulling out his best imitation of "The Dude" "Well, like, that's just his opinion, man" LOL - what a sack of ****......... And what are you afraid of Mojo Man, the voters will decide, but the House has a constitutional duty to uphold, glad one party cares about their OATH to the country. DD
