I put some of these videos in other threads, but I figured I would start a new thread just for this. I was pretty blah on the trade before I started watching some recent defensive work from Shumpert, but after seeing him I'm excited to see him in Houston. He looks like a 6'5" version of Pat Bev to me. Feel free to add more!
This is from the Warriors Final's loss. video is low quality, but shows how Shumpert was part of how Cavs got so physical with pressure on Curry.
Could you explain one thing to me - what is this thing he is doing where he puts his hand on Curry - sometimes on his hip or ribs, or shoulder. Is there a term for it?
I just don't feel too good that you give coach so many under 6'6 guys. Too many excuses for him to run small ball.
He's got quick hands going for the ball, even as his guy beats him? Not sure what you're asking, unless you're just fishing for someone to say that's a hand-check
This reminds of the trade Morey made last year picking up Luc to add that defensive presence that made us so good. I think Shumpert might be an even better improvement. Playoff experience, played in the finals, has a ring. It's a good trade.
I hope so, i know some people mentioning of trading the two new players and Nene to get under tax, but can we trade Ennis? Dude is the worst one-on-one defender... He's scrappy, hustles, fights over/thru picks, good help defender but my-oh-my is he a horrible on-ball defender. Always gets beat off the first step, even when the guy doesnt have the ball and cuts to basket.
Shumpert might actually make Ennis more valuable, because Ennis is actually really good at playing the passing lanes while not being an entirely disciplined 1v1 defender. He'll allow Ennis to not have to guard the best offensive player on the other team and instead be free to roam a bit more on defense and look for his steals. And he's not a bad rebounder for a perimeter player either, so that's always a plus.
Shumpert plays in-your-face defense! Can't wait till we get Capela and have all these news guys playing in sync.
So Durant&Curry pick and roll would be switching PJ Tucker with Shumpert. I mean Shump is better than Ennis or Gordon so that's an upgrade for sure. I just hope we bring in some stretch four in the buyout market, we still need size and rebounding at the rim
Shump Capela and PJ should be just as good as trevor Capela Pj. The other thing now we can put some pressure on the ball
