I think I like Anthony black. I know the crazy athleticism of Amen Thompson jumps off the tape. And I know he is the favorite for number four, but I like Anthony Black's fit on this team. I like his potential as a Shaun Livingston type. I don't know that he has the potential to develop into a first team all NBA player, but I think he can be a perennial all-star candidate. I think his floor is fairly high, though his ceiling is probably slightly lower than some others. He's got a better shot than Thompson, and I think a better chance at improving that shot. If he can improve his three ball, the sky is the limit. I think he's the exact type of player Udoka would be looking for. He could be an excellent defender that would make up for deficiencies both inside and outside on this team. The only downside is, do you truly pick him at number 4, or is there a way you can trade back to 6 and still get him?
If you’re looking for Udoka Celtics archetypes in this draft, I think Anthony Black as a Marcus Smart and Jarace Walker as a Robert Williams makes a lot of sense.
If you got a trade down opportunity with Orlando, you could get him at #6 where he might be BPA. Then you would have #11 to use in a trade. I think #11 and a return of the Nets picks back to them, might actually be enough for Bridges. Phoenix will be picking in the mid-20s for a while, so getting their own picks back could hold a lot of value. As does that #11.
Been on the Black bandwagon for awhile! Not quite the uber athlete like the Thompson twins but a very good athlete in his own right. I think he's the best passer in this draft, even though most claim it's Amen. I also think he brings the ONE thing this team needs an infusion of the most and that is BBIQ! I think it's telling when you hear what a player's coach says about him. In an interview with Amen's coach he gushed over his athleticism, saying that he was always doing something "athletically" unbelievable in practice, whilst Black's coach raved about his vision and BBIQ, saying that he often saw a possession/play 2 or 3 passes ahead and also praised him for his smarts on "team" defense as well as individual. And that's at only 19 yo. I think he has a chance to be a player that "affects winning" at a very high rate! Especially if his jumper improves. I think there's probably nothing to worry about from Detroit with Cade there and I don't think ORL. would be trading up to get him, unless it's another all time great smokescreen! They probably would want to jump DET for Whitmore, or maybe Miller or Ausar depending on the order of the top 3.
