I saw Metta at a corporate holiday party of all places and as a Rockets fan, he holds a special place in my heart (No Layups!). So of course I introduced myself and told him I appreciated his time on the Rockets and I told him I thought it was hilarious when he pretended to be Luis Scola when he called into the radio station. He said, "Oh shi*t...you remember that?" I then asked him what his favorite memory/experience was while he was with the Rockets. His answer: They didn't go very deep into the playoffs but Game 1 of the 2009 Western Conference Semifinals against the Lakers cuz he had a good game and they won (that was the game where Yao refused to go out and came back from the tunnel). That was an epic game so I was happy with that answer and he seemed like a cool dude but I didn't get to talk to him much cuz other people wanted to selfie/talk to him but he still looks jacked as hell and looks like he could kill me with one hand behind his back. Cool story bro I know. I also told him pics or GTFO on Clutchfans so here you go:
Dayum, as much as I loved Ron, he changed his name thereafter and went on to win a ship with Kobe and the Lakers the very next year. Likely one of the favorite One Year Rentals. I think if a reporter asked him what was his accomplishment, he would say his run with the Lakers. Cool story, breh nonetheless.
Nice mention of calling in as Scola. I wonder if he also remembers tweeting "it's 10:00, kids are in bed. Time for some Clutchfans". or something like that.
FAKE NEWS!!! That's not Metta World Peace, it's Ron "Tru Warier" Artest. P.S. Check out his single, Working the Pole.
Nope this was in LA at a Facebook holiday party for partners/clients. I heard he came with a friend, who he partnered with on some e-commerce business or something.
