I mean you guys might be right. It is a small sample size but it is without a doubt that we have been winning with defense and Hayes is a very good defender. Landry is very good on offense, but I think his defense is even worse this year than last year. The Rockets have given up 95.6 points per 100 possessions while Landry is on the floor vs. 94.2 while Hayes is on the floor. If the Rockets need defense more than offense right now then Hayes would have the edge. Maybe a larger point would be that Hayes should see more minutes than usual when Landry comes back.

I agree having Landry only makes us better and he certainly is a plus, but its not like Landry would just be cut or dropped for the team, we could get a long player (which we still lack after so many years) that can play behind Yao and scola

Although Chuck plays solid D, we need Landry to come back healthy..He's an offensive weapon that can/will be utilized down the stretch, especially in playoffs...

    Love Chuck though...

You'll find out how quickly offense is important when the Rockets are playing good teams on the road. Hayes is a nice occasional spot player, but if Scola isn't in the game because of foul trouble you're telling me you would feel more comfortable with Chuck Hayes out there then Carl Landry!?

the PF/C we would get for Landry would come off the bench behind scola AND Yao, but Hayes actually does deserve to come off the bench first at times. You're talking about one play, LAST year, yeah it was a great play, but still just one play. The rocket's team is pretty complete now, but i think that big body is still lacking. Scola and landry/hayes come in and do a great job, but let's face it, they're undersized and sometimes you wish there was a bigger guy back there when Yao is sitting, deke can get it done sometimes, but is obviously older now and has trouble with quickness.

Scola has played brilliantly, but I think this team has missed Landry every game since he's been out.

It could be true that Scola needs more minutes to improve his efficacy, but as much as I love him I'll still feel a lot better once Landry is back.

It really depends on what the other team is doing. Landry's defense isn't much better than Chuck's offense, IMO. Chuck sucks at putting the ball in the basket, but I'll say this about him. He is our best passing big in the high post. Maybe that's not saying a lot, but he does have that going for him.

quit comparing Landry and Hayes head to head, they're not playing AGAINST each other, just because Landry is clearly a better players OVERALL doesn't mean he's always going to do more for the team than Hayes. Hayes defense is top of the line and in certain situations or against certain teams/players, Hayes would be more helpful. Think about it, if the offense is clicking , like it's been lately, then more offense from Landry isn't exactly what the team needs, they need D to balance out their offense, that's exactly what's been going on the last 6 games.

I don't think Z scored more than once on him in a one on one post up. Chuck held his own. The rebounding suffered, though. There's no way a 6'5 guy can box out a terrific offensive rebounder like Ilgauskus.

I would like to see Chuck and Carl in the game at the same time. I think that would be a solid front court, especially against the teams we have coming up this next week.

Its not so much Landry isn't good. Its that Chuck Hayes is damn good. Great teams can afford to have a non-scorer out there. The Cavs are doing it... Ill tell you one thing, its not a knock on anybody just a notion, if JVG was coaching Hayes would be playing 18mpg minimum and Landry would be a situational spark player.

Hayes adds tremendous value more so than Landry isn't good.

That's too short upfront, we'd get killed by Noah/Tyrus, maybe against Minny and Utah

It's real simple, they both can get PT.

If we Landry and Scola aren't playing well put in the Chuck Wagon.

We can also go small some nights and Hayes and Landry might both be in, I also heard that Carl could play some SF, I think they will find their PT and I agree he's been playing great defense.

I agree, that is why I said trade Landry for someone while Rockets can, we have Scola who can score, and Hayes is our Defesive specialist for PFs. Many lol at the idea of trading Landry , but I think they would agree now even though its too late. More mins for Hayes , especially vs PFs : Garnett, Duncan, Itski, Boozer

Landry needs to improve his defense, period. He is pretty bad at it. Scola has improved a lot at every aspect of his game, while Landry only improved his jump shot and regressed on his rebounding quite a bit.

I think having Chuck in there helps a lot more than people realize. However, this team needs a scoring big guy off of the bench, and that guy is Landry.

I definitely think Chuck needs to play WAY, WAY more than he has. He should have seen more time in those games where the Rox couldn't stop anyone. The guy should rarely be a DNP-CD.

I'm not sure about that. When JVG talks about the depth on our team in his local radio interviews, he usually talks about Scola and Landry and, it seems to me, rarely even acknowledges Chuck.
