I pick Lane for most disappointing young player. He's had his chance and he hasn't looked all that well. At least Burke has speed and Everett has defense. I don't see what Lane brings to the team - he's the weakest link in the Astros' youth movement.

If you take away Lane's horrendous month of May, he is batting .273 and slugging .543. Those are pretty solid numbers for a player's first full time season.

I wonder what happens if you take away his month of April as well ...

Give em time, if he doesn't improve in the 2nd half then you have something, but I think Burke is up over .250 now, so Lane has a chance.

I'm disappointed with both Burke and Lane, but with Lane a little more. Everett is having his typical year, but I'm fine with that because he gives you good defense at a position where you need it.

This is more reason for Purpura to at least go out and get a decent corner outfielder for the rest of the season. The Astros could then split time with Lane and Burke in the other outfield spot, and hopefully one of them will emerge as a real player in the league.

The point is he has had 3 solid months and one poor (horribly poor) month. It would appear that the solid months are the norm.

Take away April as well and the average is still around .262 with about a .550 slugging percentage.

I'm tired of 7,8, and 9! I absolutley love Everett's glove. Who doesn't? However, having Adam and Ausmus in the lineup together is an offensive liability in the NL where you have the pitcher bat last who, unless it's Roger, is usually an automatic out. :(

I loved having Loretta at the shotshop position for that short time who is a career .300 hitter with a good eye who also doesn't make much money. Plus the season we lost him, he only signed for 1 million in SD. That's less than bench players make. Even now his salary is under 3 million.

I would rather have Burke and Lane out there than Bagwell. At least Burke and Lane have the potential to improve.

I'd like to see Bagwell hit on a AAA rehab before he's allowed back in the lineup. If goes down there and bats below .250, you know he's done.

People who can do nothing but whine and complain when their team is in playoff position. They suck and should go root for the Yankees.
