Just as the title says. Any tips on how tear a piece of athletic tape off the roll would be appreciated.
Uhh, like duct tape... masking tape, electrical tape or any other type of tape not on an roll with a cutter. With your teeth! Just kidding. Be a man, use your hands and rip... hard. Pinch with your nails to make it easier.
Like for taping ankles?? Just rip it with your hands...but IIRC, u have to hold one side still and only pull on the other...
You guys are mean. OP, seriously, I find that a countdown method, accompanied by a primal scream, usually does the trick. So get ready to tear, and countdown, loudly, 3! 2! and on 1, let out a primal shriek as you tear the tape asunder.
Pinch and hold the tape from the edge with your thumb and index, with the fingers being perpendicular to the edge. Use your other hand now, and bring the same formation of fingers closing in to the other hand's position on the same side and edge of the tape. Pull your one hand fingers from your other hand's fingers, angling the left hand away from you and the right hand towards you. Hold the tape hard with the right and pull away with the left. FEEL THE RIP. Continue. Use the piece you ripped. LIKE SO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAiCSmU1M3Y

in his defense, it's not as straightforward as you'd think, but if you dont know how, then you probably shouldn't be using it to begin with...
^^^ no, it's pretty straightforward. I usually split the tape to make the roll last longer and because it doesn't need to be so wide. That's pretty straightforward too.
Maybe if you have experience with it, which it sounds like you do. I've been in a class where most of the people couldn't cleanly tear it on their first attempt(s). The teacher already expected it, so that would mean it's common. He was already taking the time to address it.
