My opinion of O'Brien basically since he showed up is that he's a more surly poor man's Kubiak. Was I ready for Kubiak to leave? Yes. Would I prefer his schemes and hence him as head coach to O'Brien? Also yes.
The wrinkles he (Baby Shan) added in the passing game is what I miss the most. Guys were running wide@$$ open, and Schaub had time to get them the rock. Similar concepts to what Jimmy G is executing in San Francisco. Couple that with the ZBS and a guy who could excel in the system (Foster), it was a beautiful scheme. Thanks, Fat Albert and Lisfranc!
Speaking of offenses that can't be figured out, that would be the west coast offense, and Watson would be great in it. The Vikings already have a better offense than the Texans. Kubes first year there. But let's give O'Brien another year to figure it out and trade a bunch of picks.
The Texans have figured it out. They have oline issues and Fuller's injuries. Every time Fuller plays they put up points. This is why they need to let him go and get another dependable wr Watson"s first season with fuller playing they had a streak 33 57 33 34 and 38 points till he was injured
Yeah, I've been wondering about that. I might be totally off base, but why wouldn't O'Brien run that offense that scored all those points instead of what he's doing now?
I said this in another thread. Bullsh*t grass is greener. Kubiak was worse for us than BOB. He won less divisions, less games, and didn’t go any further in the playoffs. Also no team is even using him as a head coach. But all these ppl are so fixated on hating BOB that they miss him and use unknowns like “his play calling with Watson would be amazing”. also annoying that they complain he had Schaub instead of Watson but don’t give credit when BoB has Hoyer, Mallet, Brock, etc.. p.s. if you say “because BOB chose those guys” then he gets credit for Watson. And Kubiak can get credit for sticking with Schaub like an idiot.
It’s ridiculous how nit picky they can be. In the chiefs forum they wanted to get rid of Reid after they lost to us. ppl don’t understand that double digit win coaches don’t grow on trees. There is much worse than BoB out there.
what's frustrating about fat albert is that he was cut the week prior by the freaking patriots and picked up by tampa for that game. it's like in those war films when the allies, to prove a moral stance, don't kill a pow, then that pow comes back later with his crew and takes out the entire platoon. That got dark quickly.
Foster was here in '09. They would have been a load had they made the post season that year with Foster having come on late in the year without a lot of wear and tear. The Fat Albert comment was more about Kubiak and his best team.
Kubiak wasted 5 years looking for a defense coordinator, which the owner had to step in and fix by hiring Wade Phillips. Kubiak was damn lucky he was not fired after 5 years. OBie had a similar issue with finding a special teams coordinator, but it was a much lesser issue versus Kubiak’s.
Foster literally got his first full game the last game of that season. He was also #37 if you remember clearly, playing a lot of special teams. kubiak was the architect of the most successful Texans offensive teams. They got better after Baby Shan left.
Different sport but im reminded of Mack Brown detractors till he got over the hump. Bet those people would love a young Mack Brown right about now
Yup, our own Doak Walker! He got his first taste of run the last few games and really took off the next year.
