Of all the great travel coincidences happened to stumble on a Houston Rockets Themed cafe in the Jewel at Singapore Changi airport. Some patrons not so impressed with the Rockets Season. Wonder why it's Van Fleet's Jersey, or maybe Juwan Howards. Also didn't have any Rockets gear with me but did have a Stros cap. For those who don't know what the Singapore Jewel is. It's an indoor waterfall and rainforest with a four story shopping mall around it at the Singapore airport.
FVV or Howard? grrrr #5 is a key element of my most common password, signifying…Cuttino but, unless they did a custom Cat jersey, the black trim is too new, so has to be FVV
What’s cool is that this place would’ve made sense during the Yao or Lin years. That it’s Less than a year old meant they came up with the concept while the Rockets were god awful.
It makes me wonder what kind of crazy physical representation the Rockets may have had in China during the height of the Yao years.
Yep. It’s a thirst trap for Houstonians. What’s even funnier in the Hong Kong airport there is a restaurant called “Beef and Liberty” when I saw that even though is already eaten I felt compelled as an American to go get a burger
Now if there was an Astro themed Irish pub I would just hand them my Credit card and say leave it open. The one downside though would be because the Stros are orange and blue the pub would be a Protestant Orangeman place.
The Rockets announced the partnership a few months ago. I remember thinking most Chinese companies were either forbidden to or didn't want to do business with the Rockets even after Morey left, but then I saw the partnership on Facebooks, so ... *shrug*. Luckin was a great stock to own for a short bit - well, before the accounting fraud, delisting, and bankruptcy. But I guess they're "back" now post-scandal. They were basically supposed to be the Starbucks of China from what I remember.
Man I was just there in the summer…..totally missed it. Even bookended our trip at Changi, so stayed at the airport hotel one night at the beginning and one at the end.
I heard this airport has a free movie theater while you wait on a long layover. I was helping someone who was once stuck there for 24 hours between their home country and US due to problems with Singapore Airlines and US Customs. If they had to be stuck anywhere, this would be the place… thanks for the tip about the Rockets cafe! This is now on my international list of places to visit!
