In his 15 years in NBA, Melo had the best success when he was coached by Karl.

The same Karl that had taken his Sonic team to the finals.

In terms of basketball, Karl isnt exactly a scrub.

Melo has had a run in with Karl, Mike, Phil....

 

Making the fact that he can’t get hired all the more telling. The man can coach, but he’s an ass and appears to rub almost everyone the wrong way.

 

You were mentioning Melo's dads cancer...You do realize Karl was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 right? Besides other things, I am sure his health has played a factor in his career.

We are talking about a guy that has coached for 25 seasons or so, not held a job for just a few seasons.

“Especially with the situation that he’s going to be in, we’re just trying to get him in situations where he can pick and pop and run the lane and I never want him to get tired.”​

Has Melo ever run PnR or Pick n Pop with an elite PG? This could be the biggest change to his role. He will be used this way, and he will be leaps and bounds better than Ariza and Ryan at it, since he won't head-fake and pass back 80% of the time, because he can actually drive.

Equally important, the threat of Melo driving off a Pop pass, or destroying a PG on a switch, should actually make Paul/Harden more efficient as the dribblers, since defenses won't be able to cheat/trap/hedge/switch off Melo like they did Ariza and Ryno. That is, we won't even have to see Melo get the pop pass as much as LMA does, because our guards will do a keeper more often.

The Pick n Pop role is I.D.I.O.T., imo. He's never been in that role before, and it is a natural role for him, in this system.

we’re trying to make this finals run, and against GS, u better have the stamina to give it your all on both ends of the floor...there’s no slacking on D so u can save your energy for offense over here, not against GS

Great to hear the trainer dude is trying to slim him down with plenty of running. He looked way to heavy last year at OKC for mine...

Really like the potential of a trimmed up Melo pick and popping into uncontested jumpers, and raining down threes with supreme confidence. Also like what that will mean for CP3 and MVPs workload.

 

Melo needs to find where he left his shot at, then he can start making predictions and demands.
