Jazz would immediately jump past Houston with a Conley addition, assuming they don’t sacrifice core pieces.

Clippers getting Kawhi, Lakers getting Davis, Jazz getting Conley, Nuggets still very good, Blazers still very good. Even with the Warriors down next year...West still absolutely brutal while the Rockets trending downwards.

We've debated back and forth on the feasibility of deals for Butler and Horford, but I'd like to start a dialogue on how to make this work financially. The easiest route would be opt-in-and-trades so that HOU isn't hard-capped.

Gordon + Frazier + Chiozza is enough outgoing salary to trade for an opted-in Butler.

Capela ($14.9 MM) + Nene ($3.8 MM) + remaining min guys ($4.5 MM) gets you to $23.2 MM, which is just short of what you need to trade for an opted in Al Horford.

There are a few levers we may be able to use to increase our outgoing salary:
    • Use some of our 7 TPEs to acquire more salary
      • How long would we have to wait to repackage that salary?
    • Convert some or all of Capela's incentives into guaranteed salary for the remainder of his deal
      • Is this legal under the CBA?

yea i could see that. i just have a strong feeling that if we had more/better forwards with height/length we'd be unstoppable.

LOL relax my friend. We don’t know what they’re giving up yet or anything. No reason to believe a team we’ve 4-1’d two years in a row would suddenly surpass us with the addition of Conley.

Horford is more like Marc Gasol at this point. Effective two-way player with enough offensive versatility (passing, 3-pt range, basketball IQ) to prevent him from being a dinosaur in today’s NBA.

Capela for Horford straight up is a loss for us. But if they’re adding someone like Jaylen Brown to the equation, that completely changes everything.

If you watched this year’s playoff series...you’d see that the Jazz outplayed the Rockets in 3 of those games. It was closer than it looked, especially once the Jazz stopped playing that moronic defensive scheme the whole time. Biggest weakness on their roster is at point guard with Rubio, and replacing him with Conley would be exactly what they need to make a jump. It’d be close, sure, but a guy like Conley is exactly what they’re missing.

Kyrie Irving is “focused” on Brooklyn, and Boston is losing a grip on Kyrie, per Woj.

Al Horford would be the perfect fit at center for the Rockets, and he’s a better player on both ends of the floor than Clint Capela. I hope Morey finds a way to pull this off.

Why are people saying "if they include Jaylen Brown"? Him and Tatum are their future and most valuable assets.

Brown couldn't even be had for Capela straight up but yet you get both Brown AND Horford? Lol something is wrong with you folks.

They’re in a similar predicament to OKC 8 years ago. Decisions have to made on who to pay and who to shop.

It’s not far-fetched at all. There’s an argument to made that Ainge is greedy and we might not have the assets, but I’d imagine Tatum is the only one they consider untouchable.
