Why is it that everytime I reply to a post, the message does not appear. Cluth BBS accepts the message and my password is right abd it still does not appear but if I create a new topic, then there are no problems.

Na, that's not it (at least not for me). The BBS appears to be misbehaving sometimes. I've edited a post, hit refresh, and even exited and gone back into the board, but it doesn't appear as edited. I just tried it about 4 or 5 times. I even deleted the post, but it's still showing as being there...

What would happen if CC.Net crashed? *shudder*... there goes life support.

    Smeg,

Which version of Netscape are you using?

    Clutch,

Using Netscape 4.72 and having to hit "Reload" sometimes to get a listing of the current threads. Could it be tied to the thread list being regenerated (resequenced for the most current post) and we happen to catch it in the middle of this activity?

I'm not using AOL. Using IE5 on Win98. I've also noticed that when I go to a thread that supposedly has a new message in it, I sometimes don't see the new message. If I exit and go back into the thread, I'll see it.

For me it happens with both IE and Netscape
You come into the list of threads and pick a thread, say this one, it says 6 posts but when you get there, there only is the number of posts there that were there the last time you visted which was 4 and then you hit refresh you get the new posts aswell.

DoD, that somethingfishy web site is a registered domain name, haha

When I try to post, every once in awhile, I don't exist. Apparantly, the admins try to erase me!

Its very common for regular people with modem or dial up connections. The cpus always stores the history of the session and that's why you have refresh when you see the old one. The cpu automatically loads the old copy since you viewed it before.

However, with Network connections, etc. everytime you open and close a window is essentially a session so you wouldn't have any problems.

Hope this helps. Just click refresh, ain't too hard, and takes only a few seconds.

Clutch - please move this thread elsewhere; it doesn't belong here.

I sympathize with y'all who are having problems. Had so much trouble with Communicator 4.72 crashing that I finally blew it off and (reluctantly) downloaded IE 4. Everything is mostly O.K., although I get more "404s" than I used to with Netscape.

LOve the tech report RF34, except for the fact that I am not on a dial-up modem, i am on a permanent Lan line, so go figure.

Jay try Alt +F4 first and those sites will work.

Sometimes, before I post, I get real nervous, so I put my hands under my armpits, and then I sniff 'em, like this....!

BZZZT. I have 768kbps DSL line. I'm seein' all sorts of weird things. BTW, your explanation isn't necessarily correct. [IMG]

    Clutch,
Another thing that has been happening is I try to post a message and it says that I can't post to that board or something to that effect... I'll try to catch the message if it happens again.
