@DaDakota is correct. No matter what happens, if he's a free agent this Summer, we can make him RFA by extending a Qualifying Offer, per any situation like House, where he doesn't have enough tenure for UFA. and fwiw: We can still match all offers up to $2m/yr, without dipping into the MLE. That might be the middle ground right there. --------------------------------------------- This is from Mega House thread ... are estimates but fairly close to compare to FRP Rookie Scale Pay. The Top is House's current asking ($3.5m-ish, per @KellyUnchained ), and bottom is Morey's current offer (House's Vet Min at $1.5m).
More than half of his 49 NBA games have been with the Rockets this year. (25) He came into the league in 2016 and was not able to stick. He needed those first two years to develop into a good rotational NBA player. Now that he has done that he needs to develop into a RELIABLE/CONSISTENT NBA player. He is only 25. At 27 or 28 if he plays well over a long stretch he earns the right to sign a long term deal. Whether that is with the Rockets or someone else who wants to overpay. Either way, he gets three years in Houston to prove himself. I think that is fair and equal contract negotiation.
House should just agree to the current deal and then Fertitta can get him a summer job at the Kemah Boardwalk to make up the difference.
House would have to commit to probably another 1 year minimum deal to prove it again before he would be looking at a significant contract. Still, that's a year less than what the Rockets were kinda of pushing him into. And at any rate, if he continues to ascend he'll be 27-28 years old in his athletic prime looking for a payday...so I feel either avenue is probably going to work out well for him in the future. Either way, the kid knows this isn't his career-making contract. So the offer was 3yr/4.5mil minimum right? What would it take for a 3 year deal Danuel? 6 mil? I really don't see how the Rockets could turn that down unless they were just being obtuse about it. 1.5 mil over 3 years for, at worst, a solid role player? I really don't see how House could turn that down either. Make it happen fellas.
This is very true. House's worth is dependent upon the absence of other talent around Harden. IOW, what you are saw from House is PEAK House.
If he's converted to a standard minimum NBA contract for the remainder of the season, he will be an UFA this offseason.
There seems to be much room on both sides here . That's why it's frustrating that a deal hasn't happened yet . Anything like 3/6 2/4 with an option Both seem like deals both sides would jump on . IMO it's Tillman being cheap
End the Danuel House shutdown, Tillman! Do not hold the Rockets season hostage as leverage to build your wall against luxury tax!
Not accurate. He doesn't have enough NBA tenure to unilaterally become UFA, under any of Morey's options short of being cut. Rockets sitll have right to make him RFA by giving him a qualifying offer.
Looks like someone is starting to realize: 1) The injured wings that allowed you to get minutes are almost all back once CP3 gets on the court soon 2) You get to display your talent more alongside Harden than in the G-league
this is false. please stop spreading bad information. This had been addressed on numerous occasions He'll be a RFA if the rockets convert him to an nba contract for the rest of the season. The deadline for that is mid march. and yes he would be playoff eligible if/when this happens. IF nothing happens with House this season and he just finishes the season on his 2-way on the Vipers. He will be an unrestricted free agent in that case. and as heypartner has pointed out, at the completion of a two-way, Rockets can still make him an RFA, by given him a QO. If no QO is given, then he becomes UFA.
Why do you people side with Tilman against a worker who stands up for his freedom and a fair compensation for his work? Tilman holds both House and the season hostage to underpay House for upcoming seasons.
I would think he was referring to this Instagram post?: I don't follow House on Twitter so if it's referring to a tweet I'm out of the loop.
Giving any contract that allows a borderline NBA player to remain in the league is incredibly beneficial to that player. If it weren't for the Rockets, House would be playing in the Polish Basketball Association right now.
if he's liking posts of bad things happening to the Rockets then he's a lost cause. Dude had a chance to become a real NBA player, not just a end of the bench, last guy cut before the season guy. Everyday in the G league his value diminishes. out of sight, out of mind. no one will be lining up to offer him a big contract in the off season... He'll just be another name on the long list of filler players vying for minimum contracts.
