Wasn't he just putting his name on properties and not actually owning them?

Even if there aren't crimes, we forget that Romney got absolutely destroyed in 2012 for his low effective tax rate. It seems like ages ago, but the whole narrative of 2012 was that Romney was a rich guy who paid no taxes while selling off parts of companies to make a handsome return (while laying people off).

That's the type of stuff that resonates in the Rust Belt. Its clear that Trump has used the tax code to his advantage but to actually have numbers and data behind it (along with anecdotes that can be constructed from his returns) will serve as a brand new line of attack.

And that stuff wasn't just a line in the presidential race. It was used effectively in Senate and House races. Any Republican rich guy in Congress who ran for office got beaten over the head for voting to "end" Medicare (in the Paul Ryan house budget in 2011) while paying some crazy low effective tax rate. The whole thing brought focus to the absolutely destructive fiscal policies that Republicans were pushing which is something Democrats need right now. You can talk all you want about Trump's corruption and mismanagement but using his taxes to highlight just how rigged the system is against the working class is a consistently winning strategy.

He is not legally required to. Why should he? No matter what's in there the never Trump people
will kick and scream at anything in their desperation to get him out of office.

Taxes go to the IRS, if the IRS finds a problem they audit and investigate. Pretty simple.

Its just none of your business.

He's provided the financial disclosures required and he doesn't fall to criticism and external pressure
    so why should he?

    Good answer....

But the problem is... He's the President and if he has nothing to hide then show the Taxes...

If not then take the heat from the Never Trump People...

I didn't think he reported these but what i was thinking of is he hasn't divested of some things.

So since he has reported this why would he have risked putting something different on the tax returns. If he lied on one he lied on the other.

But Trump hasn't proved to be the sharpest tool in the in recent weeks. That being said if Congress has then hounding him about his returns only serves to rally his base.

His returns go through a government review. The agency is the irs

Candidates submitting returns is only a tradition that only goes back to Ford.

That was before Trump and the GOP put their people in there...

Coincidentally audits of the poor went up and the rich went down. To be clear, I think Trump isn’t releasing his returns because it makes him look bad, not necessarily his returns will uncover illegality. Getting to the bottom of Crooked Trump would require subpoenas.

Maddow already had a return with a billion dollar deduction. It can't look worse than that

Do you really believe they would say "Wow Donald....looks pretty clean??"

No. It's alleged scandal after alleged scandal shows that it's about one thing.
Get rid of him and make everything a scandal.

He doesn't have to by law. Why should he do anything??

Media is just throwing a fit because they usually pound people into submission and
he is just saying No.....i'll do what i want.

    Good for him.

There is no law that he has to so why should he?

Owning real estate doesn't really mean much if it is heavily mortgaged, because the bank really owns it, and lets face it, until but on the market, hard to properly value.

Much of his wealth is in the Brand value of Trump, which is intangible.

He is not kidding, and shockingly, we heard similar if less blunt statements from a Senator earlier (Johnson, Wisconsin).

This is next logical step in the transition from G.O.P (Grand Old Party) to G.T.C. (Grand Trump Cult). All cults eventually remove themselves from any other authoritative source of information or law. The leader is all, and all is leader. Truth is nothing but the leader's utterances, in his unmatched wisdom.

The nation's immune systems (Intelligence branch, Law enforcement branch) must be either completely coopted and made to bend the knee or maligned and ignored.

At least David Koresh and Jim Jones had some sort of charisma and speaking ability... but, hey, here's where we are.

Or so he claims. He claims he is under continual audit. He also lies, about everything, all the time. But no surprise you continue to defend him on this.
