HBO Max and filmmaker Michael Mann’s new series “Tokyo Vice” has released its first trailer ahead of its premiere on the streaming service from April 7th. Created and written by J.T. Rogers, the series is loosely inspired by American journalist Jake Adelstein’s non-fiction firsthand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat. Filmed on location in the Japanese capital, the story follows Adelstein (Ansel Elgort) in his daily descent into the neon-soaked underbelly of Tokyo in the late 1990s, where nothing and no one is truly what or who they seem. Ken Watanabe also stars in the series as Hiroto Katagiri, a detective in the TMPD’s organized crime division who mentors Jake. Rachel Keller, Ella Rumpf, Rinko Kikuchi, Hideaki Ito, Show Kasamatsu, Tomohisa Yamashita, Shun Sugata, Masato Hagiwara, Ayumi Tanida and Kosuke Toyohara also star. The series will premiere with three episodes on that date followed by two episodes airing every Thursday until the season finale on April 28th. Mann directed the series pilot, while Destin Daniel Cretton (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”) helmed several others. https://www.darkhorizons.com/first-trailer-michael-manns-tokyo-vice/
