    Jerusalem and King of the Jews are trending on Twitter so me being stupid I click through it, and I found this hateful gem:

    I had no idea that Martin Luther, the German monk who heralded the Protestant revolution, absolutely hated the Jews. You can basically trace a direct line from his teachings to the holocaust.

    The full context in which Martin Luther appears to advocate that Jews be slain in On the Jews and Their Lies is as follows in Luther's own words:

    "There is no other explanation for this than the one cited earlier from Moses - namely, that God has struck [the Jews] with 'madness and blindness and confusion of mind' [Deuteronomy 28:28]. So we are even at fault in not avenging all this innocent blood of our Lord and of the Christians which they shed for three hundred years after the destruction of Jerusalem, and the blood of the children they have shed since then (which still shines forth from their eyes and their skin). We are at fault in not slaying them."

    ~~~~~~~
    Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from annihilation at the hands of an official of the Achaemenid Empire named Haman, as it is recounted in the Book of Esther (usually dated to the 5th century BCE).
    Haman was the royal vizier to the Persian king Ahasuerus (Xerxes I or Artaxerxes I; Khshayarsha and Artakhsher in Old Persian, respectively). His plans were foiled by Mordecai of the tribe of Benjamin, and Esther, Mordecai's cousin and adopted daughter who had become queen of Persia after her marriage to Ahasuerus. The day of deliverance became a day of feasting and rejoicing among Jews.
    Palm Sunday is the Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels. Its name originates from the palm branches waved by the crowd to greet and honor Jesus Christ as he entered the city. Palm Sunday marks the first day of Holy Week; in Western Christianity, this is the beginning of the last week of the solemn season of Lent, preceding Eastertide, while in Eastern Christianity, Holy Week commences after the conclusion of Great Lent.
    And Happy Rockets Beat the Jazz for those that celebrate as last night was when the Rockets absolutely dominated the Jazz behind Jalen Green's 41 point superstar performance.
    Yeah, newsflash: Protestants and Catholics and Jews and Muslims have never really been buddy-buddy friends.
    He also had a ridiculous fondness for fart jokes and bathroom humor:
    FECAL FRIDAYS: MARTIN LUTHER ON THE TOILET
    One of the ways they initially dated which of the Synoptic gospels was by how much the Jews were scapegoated.
    In The (early) Gospel According to Mark, the Christianity is still an offshoot of Judiasm, so "The Jews" are the new Christians' family and friends and are viewed as bystandards to the crimes of the Romans.
    By the time The Gospel of John (written much later) was written, Christianity was getting coverts primarily not from Judiasm, and Jews are MUCH more the villians of the story than in Mark.
    If you read the two side-by-side it is striking how much more the later book blames Jews for killing Jesus. Depending on who you ask that book was written within 200 years of the events depected, so it was there basically as soon as Christianity moved on from being a Jewish seperatist group.
    If you are a mideval monk and dont know all the modern stuff that has been reconstructed about how the books were written and you have a particular fondness for the Gospel of John, it seem perfectly natural that the Jews are responsible for killing Jesus. Its all eight there in your favorite book!
    Not an expert, but IIRC, I believe the official position of the Catholic Church pretty much implicitly blamed the Jews for killing Jesus right up until an official statement repudiating that at Vatican II - in 1965.
    Apparently saying "Christ is King" is masked anti-semetism.
    The Alt-Right Christian Nationalists on Twitter are being openly anti-semitic against Jewish conservatives. Go figure.
    This is why Twitter is useless to me. None of these takes are valid to me.
    This Rabbit hole is full of hate, but it's entertaining in a dark heretical way.
    Anyone know the validity of the Talmud verses linked below:
    https://www.sefaria.org/Gittin.57a.5?lang=bi
    Onkelos then went and raised Jesus the Nazarene from the grave through necromancy. Onkelos said to him: Who ismost important in that world where you are now? Jesus said to him: The Jewish people. Onkelos asked him: Should Ithen attach myself to them in this world? Jesus said to him: Their welfare you shall seek, their misfortune you shall not seek, for anyone who touches them is regarded as if he were touching the apple of his eye (see Zechariah 2:12).
    Onkelos said to him: What is the punishment of that man, a euphemism for Jesus himself, in the next world? Jesus said to him: He is punished with boiling excrement. As the Master said: Anyone who mocks the words of the Sages will be sentenced to boiling excrement. And this was his sin, as he mocked the words of the Sages. The Gemara comments: Come and see the difference between the sinners of Israel and the prophets of the nations of the world.As Balaam, who was a prophet, wished Israel harm, whereas Jesus the Nazarene, who was a Jewish sinner, sought their well-being.
    The first Christian censorship of the Talmud occurred in the year 521. More extensive censorship began during the Middle Ages, notably under the directive of Pope Gregory IX. Catholic authorities accused the Talmud of blasphemous references to Jesus and Mary. Jewish scholars refuted these claims, stating that there were no references to Jesus in the Talmud and that names like Joshua were common and unrelated to Jesus. These disputations led to the removal of many references from subsequent editions of the Talmud.
    Some editions of the Talmud, particularly those from the 13th century onward, are missing these references, removed either by Christian censors, by Jews themselves out of fear of reprisals, or possibly lost through negligence or accident. However, most editions of the Talmud published since the early 20th century have seen the restoration of most of these references.
    Moral of this Zyrtec induced stream of consciousness is that Twitter can and does expose its users to some pretty extreme, partisan takes. In this case I took the "Christ is King" trending rabbit hole and would've been shown content showing how Jews are evil etc. And that kind of language is both dehumanizing and can justify crimes against humanity.
