I know the Raptors won anyway, but 0-11??? Did anyone see this game? What happened... Was Osterfat giving him fits again?
Yes 0'fer eleven sucks.... But, that's why it's good to be a multi-dimensional player (10 rebounds, 4 blocks) I doubt we'll see many 0'fers during the regular season. At least, I hope not.
I hope people don't start threads in here every time Olajuwon has a bad game. Pretty juvenile, if you ask me...
I don't think any Rockets fan would be surprised by the wide range of statistics Hakeem is capable of at this stage in his career. I also don't think a game by game thread is necessary.
I was actually at the game. It was awful. At one point in the game he tried to put back his own rebound three times and failed (without much contestion). He didn't even have the legs to put down a jam. He looked tired all game. I am worried, very worried.
Maybe we should have an Olajuwon forum so the Pro-Dream and Anti-Dream posters can go at it after every Raptors game?
A-train, GATER, and BGM-- I wasn't starting the thread to criticize the Dream... I was actually wondering what had happened... hence the "did anyone see the game" question. I did notice the solid rebounding and blocks in the box score, and I noted the most important thing-- the Raptors win. I just wanted to know if it was one of those rare games where he just didn't have his shooting touch, or one of those equally rare games where Osterfat actually played (like the Jazz-holes always hoped he would). Sorry if it sounded like I was Dream-bashing...
Playing in Utah in altitude didn't help, it never has. He'll be thankful to be playing in the East this year.
Bah!! Bahh!! and Triple Bahhh!!! First, I was at the game and whoever that is that said he/she is worried is lying. Hakeem's shot wasn't falling, thats all, it was an off game. However EVERYONE played bad (Shown by Utah's 8 points in the 2nd quarter). Vince even went 9-19, and the team shot very poorly. But, Hakeem did not play bad at all. He was still solid on the boards (10 boards, 5 of which were offensive) and had many blocks. He was defending really well... Yes, players have off-days and man that was an ugly game, but thats the beauty of having a multi-talented player like Hakeem, his shots don't fall, but he's solid defensively.
Testify, Looogie! I'm surprised that we haven't had major bashing against Olajuwon about this game, yet. I think Dream's role should change a bit. He's expected to do the same thing he did for Houston during our second half run last year, and he has the ability, but that's where all the doubt is coming from. Can Dream stay healthy and average 14/8 or 15/10. If Dream just decided that he would focus mainly on rebounding and blocking shots, and getting his shots within the flow of the game and not ask for the ball in the post (playing somewhat in the style of Oakley or Rodman), I'm sure 10-11 rebounds and 2 blocks would be guaranteed. Points would be at 8 or 10, though. But hell, we like it more when Dream scores.
kpsta - I wasn't being critical. I guess I am not surprised by 0-fers at this point in Olajuwon's career. He had several 0-fers last season as well as some 1-fers & 2-fers. Isn't it a given that he plays himself into shape these days? For example http://nba.com/playerfile/hakeem_olajuwon/game_by_game_stats.html Regarding the significance of 10 rebounds - if Olajuwon misses 3 consecutive shots and rebounds 2 of those 3 misses, he still gets credit for 2 offensive boards.
