Jalen Rose is not someone i would trust. He has personal bias and isnt open minded. Ariza is a good player but he is a role player who is excellet. Chandler still has room for gowth and could become a perennial all star. If given the choice most everyone would take Parson on the team. Ariza is here because he was a cheaper alternative. And cheaper by a lot!!! And, No parson is not twice the player Ariza. Morey did a good job in all this.
Oh BS. Do you not see the way he's acting right now. I'm sure Morey asked him to hold off on the offer sheet until we signed someone. But he thought he was the 3rd star.
More opinions here. http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2014/07/16/blogtable-free-agency-winners-losers Basically, the article thinks that the team as it stands is weaker this coming season compared to last.
What are you talking about? Morey made him an RFA. The market (Mavs) came in at 3 years 45M. Rockets decide not to match. CP has to leave. On his current salary, he'd have to play for close to 50 years to make the same amount. 50 years.
You can argue that but you can't argue that Asik >>>>>> Dorsey and Lin >>>>> Caanan. Our current state is not better unless you count "flexibility points and rebounds".
If we are not getting any more players, for sure we are weaker. Don't kid yourselves. get out of denial.
Has absolutely nothing to do with cheapness. The Rockets feel they are better off reserving the MLE for different player(s). They spend the same money either way, aside from paying Kostas' release bonus to his former team which was not a sticking point.
Not saying one is better than the other, but Parsons' doesn't have much room for growth. He's just a slasher who can shoot the 3.
Jalen also said in the pre-season preview last year that Durant is coming to Houston in 2 years and Jordan is suiting up at 50.
I think Jalen Rose is probably the more level-headed guy on this podcast, given that this podcast is all about man-cave discussions which have bunch of exaggerated stories. Jalen's predictions are out there -- some are good (like how he predicted Harden's trade, and that D12 is going to end up in H-town), and some our downright crazy. People need to figure out the right filter to put over his voice so that they can get just the right information out of his podcasts. In this case, Jacoby was wrong and Jalen was correct -- there's no "bunch of questions about that" in regards to Rocket's status after Parsons' departure. Ariza fills the exact same role that Parsons played, with better D, at a lower cost than Parson's current contract. If you're talking about not getting Bosh, Melo, or Lebron, we got totally screwed and we can talk about that too. But when we're talking about Parsons, the move to get Ariza and letting Parsons walk was great. Notice also that Jalen praises Mavs for what they're doing there too. They will be a better team next year for sure, with the signing of Parsons.
Jalen spoke and was honestly the most unbiased, accurate take on this. And NO, Parsons is not all star material. He has hit a ceiling and will not play up to a max contract level. He hasn't the athletic ability nor the consistency. He's a role player with boyish good looks. Nothing more. We won the situation by obtaining a better shooter and defender on the cheap. Meanwhile, the Mavs' cap space will feel this.

... So, because of his off court abilities he's better than Ariza, who has better on court abilities ? No.
