I've got gmail and recently was just checking my SENT MAIL and to my surprise I had 8 multiple emails sent out the same time to random looking addresses with the following:

"heyyy i saw your craigslist listing and you probably aren't even a real person but if you are and you really look like that, add me as a friend and maybe we have alot in common http://www.TellThemOnline.net?profile_id=kelly_m7"

WTF IS THIS? how did those mofos access my gmail and send out spam to other emails, this is slightly worrying and I was wondering what steps I am able to take to help prevent this from happening in future? Has anyone else experienced anything like this before?

    :(

When you are logged in to your gmail account you can see your current IP address. Clicking on the "details" link will show you the last 5 accesses to your account.

Are you always using https? (In the settings screen, all the way down at the bottom) That's a start, in case you weren't already using it.

Unfortunately I have logged in 5 times or more since whoever accessed my account did so.. and as for meggoleggo's suggestion of enabling the option of 'Always use https', well I guess I've made a start now... thanks.

Quite strange though, I'm curious how they got access to my email, I never give it out or sign up or register for anything silly  I find it strange that emails meant to lure Americans/Canadians (is that where Craiglist is based? I'm not sure) have anything to do with me as I'm Australian.
