Posting this here but wouldn't surprise if it moved to D&D. One of the problems with modeling the climate is getting information about power plants and what they are admitting. Researchers at ASU have come up with a way to crowd source that information gathering with a game to identify and provide info about power plants. http://ventus.project.asu.edu/
scratching my head.. I thought this was all settled, the debate was over, and this was all already known factz...
Don't know if this is meant to be snarky but the composition of the atmosphere is pretty well known and the change in concentration of CO2 can be measured. That is already a fair amount of info to determine the theory of man made global warming. What this study is meant to do is to try to determine individual man made sources of CO2 to improve the modelling.
Looks like a game we Americans can't really partake in. Information on US power plants and their emissions is already good. They need stuff on Tanzania and Brunei and BFE. So, good luck to them on that, I suppose.
This is why they are taking the crowdsourcing angle to get people who travel a lot and people in those countries involved. That said in many of those countries I doubt that the government will just allow people there to get that info.
