I'm not sure but I don't think Italy has had as large an immigrant wave of Africans as France has had.

That's because Italy's colonial endeavors were not quite as militarily successful as the French; I mean, the guys nearly lost a war to Ethiopia in the 30's -- which evened the series at 1-1 (having lost to the ethiopians in 1896).

You've got be an History teacher or something like that, not even a lot of italians know this :).

On RocketForever answer: HayesStreet and SamFisher already answered, wikipedia always comes in help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scramble_for_Africa as you can see France had a major number of colonies than Italy had, this caused France to have african people in their territory from 2 or 3 generations. Africans people living here instead had not came before the end of the 80s so they are not established like they are in France, most of them is still clandestine. This is, very roughly, the explanation.
Btw even France has great problem with racism, don't forget all the banlieue(suburb of Paris) riots that has happened in the last 2 year.

I like your lineup but C. Ronaldo was not one of the best midfielders in this tourney. He spent more time crying and flopping than actually playing. I am a big Man U fan and have seen many of his matches and he's far better than he showed. He was awesome in Euro 2004 but needs to lean not to flop every time he is breathed on.

Does anybody know what the name of or what that song is that was played after each game during the world cup? It sounded like a national anthem for a country or something. I was curious if anybody knew. Thanks.

It might be Divo - The Time of our Lives

That was the official song of the 2006 World Cup

I think they were playing the winning team's national anthem. At least, that's what it sounded like to me. I'd know more if the US ever won a game...

On the new rankings, I guess we now have to watch out for the new world power from GUINEA (#24). Yeah, good job there FIFA. Really made the rankings a lot more realistic.

It wasn't a national anthem, because they played it after every game regardless of who was playing.

It DID however, bear a resemblance to the chorus of the old USSR national anthem, but I think that was purely superficial, it wsn't the same song.

Oh **** you're right...i dont know how i missed that...those fifa ranks suck

you're right about the flopping and i hate flopping whether it's in b-ball or futball, but i also tried to be as objective as possible and i think c. ronaldo played well and was key in portugal coming in 4th and i know there's essien, riquelme, and others, but i just don't think any of them played as well c. ronaldo...i also replaced crespo with henry....i like your lineup too

Arena's contract won't be renewed at the end of 2006. Even though this Cup was disappointing for US fans Bruce has still done a lot for US soccer and our national team. It's sad to see him go but I think it's time.

Yeah a lot of teams either don't renew their coaches contract or the coaches leave themselves after a world cup...i guess a lot of heat is put on all of them to perform and when you don't meet up to it they have to find an outlet to vent. Coaches are the first to go.
