To sign CP3 outright we would have had to trade away an enormous amount of salary (like 20+ million in order to offer him his max) and then that would have been it (no MLE or BAE). If we acquired a S&T'd player after that, we would have been hard capped as well. When we traded for him we anticipated being hard capped becuase we knew we were going to operate above the cap this year. We used our MLE, which triggers the hard cap at the apron level. The only way to avoid the hard cap would have been to not use the MLE.
It should be "under." Paul is a first team defensive player and the best of second best (after Harden) PG. Of course we had to give more to get Paul than Hayward.
would love it. at 30 years old he's an 18/8 guy with starters minutes; shooting 36/37% career from 3pt. He'll even block a shot or two. He's actually better than Ryan Anderson in almost every facet of the game, except for maybe 3pt shooting (and it's close enough). I love him as a stretch 4 that will actually still rebound. Not saying his defense is great or anything, but he shoots and he rebounds. Get this done! ...not sure how
He definitely bolsters the 4 position, I couldn't see him starting over Ryno buthaving a backup 4 as good as Ilyasova is a winning formula! What is he going to ask for? 5 mill? 6 mill? we got 10 mill of non guaranteeds that we would love to use but also a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.
