4 Fort Lauderdale police officers out after racist video, texts

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Officials say four Fort Lauderdale police officers have lost their jobs following an investigation into a racist video and text messages.

CBS Miami reported 30-year-old James Wells, 31-year-old Jason Holding and 25-year-old Christopher Sousa were fired. A fourth officer, 22-year-old Alex Alvarez, resigned...

You will be surprised how prevalent casual/joking racism is in the South.
    Even in Austin, Texas.

It is every bit as bad in the Mid West, if not worse.

That's sickening. Glad they are no longer police officers. They should never be allowed in the public sector again.

Difference between these cops and thousands of cops across the nation? They were caught.

that may be true. i live in austin and associate with zero of those people. i hang out with just every type of person imaginable and i hear zero racist talk, unless it is some type of joke to the person's face.

and i would like to keep it that way.

Unfortunately, the commentary towards police coming from the high crime areas of the US is far worse that finding these few exceptions in the police force. This thread is rather distasteful coming on the heels of two NYPD being killed and two Ferguson PD officers being shot.

How backwards are we as a society that we are trying to attack the brave men and women of the police force who risk their lives to keep us safe, while simultaneously exalting some of society's worst offenders and worst neighborhoods. The men and women of the force are impacted by the utter disrespect and danger that they encounter every day in low income communities. We can't ignore that. If you were a policeman, which area would you rather patrol -- Bunker Hill Village or Sunnyside?

First of all, Their job isn't even dangerous enough to make the list of America's ten most dangerous jobs. Secondly, dangerous job does not entail infallibility.

This thread is telling coming on the heels of the DOJ report on the Ferguson police department. It seems obvious that these aren't isolated incidents at all but rather much more common than the law and order racial hustlers would like to admit. If you're a private citizen being stopped by police would you rather be white or black?

Wow. It's NOT against the law to be racist... but... you can't put it on anything like that and on top of that, you're a public servant... :( sad stuff.

most cops i know have dangerous jobs. they deal with a lot of **** and stress and ungrateful people who don't show any respect for what they do. rich kids, college students, and company people like you don't ever deal with them unless you get pulled over in your cadillacs.
