Just heard on 790 that Brett Hartmann is suing the managers of Reliant Stadium for causing his ACL injury due to poor field conditions.... http://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/prnewswire/press_releases/Texas/2012/11/15/DA14465
He will have a case. No precedent for this sort of field, and there's no way they can say that visible seems could never increase the risk of injury compared to a seamless field.
His lawyer just said he got 1 suspension for an over the counter sleep aid and a weight gain supplement for the 2nd
I'm sure the league has some sort of minimum requirement for playing surfaces. If so, his quarl shouldn't be with Reliant, but with the NFL.
Him and his lawyer are doing a terrible job of positioning his case on the radio IMO, aside from that I think he has a legitimate argument. I'm not sure there's any data that shows our grass to be worse than any other - just hearsay. They should give up on that pee-pee game defense. The hard-hitter here is that the field was crap on that particular day. That's the strongest point of argument. Seems like he wants to come off as some kind of hero, like he cares about player safety, just stick with the personal complaint.
Well, they clearly signed off on the Texans field... but the issue with the Texans is that they insisted on using this system, when there are other options available. The NFL does not police each team in terms of what field they should or should not use... they don't force Baltimore to use grass, and they don't force the Texans to use field turf.
