    "White Evangelical" are a couple of words that just go together to describe a particular religious group. See: "Black Muslim", "Hasidic Jew", "Dumbass Scientologist", etc...

    Again, "white evangelical" and "evangelical protestant" and "evangelical" are used interchangeably to describe a specific religious group.

    You not only mentioned his skin color, you wrote "evangelical," which is not a word found in the link you attached. Further, the NBC link states that he was abusing a relative and does not say this happened in the context of the church. He confessed it to pastors and they turned him in, etc. So the church actually played a good role in this story. NBC also mentions "he promoted a strict anti-abortion bill in Texas," which appears to be totally irrelevant. I believe the NBC piece slightly smears Baptists and anti-abortion advocates.

    "ex-Southern Baptist" are the 2nd and 3rd words of the news article. Southern Baptists are evangelicals. This is not complicated stuff.

    Come on Buck, start saying some smart stuff. Let's all see how smart you are. I submit, to everyone except you, that it is very difficult to find any post where Buck Turgidson said something smart or new. Anyone aware of anything smart that Buck has ever said?
