Let's make one thing clear: Sammy Davis never has been nor ever will be a Longhorn. He's not good enough.

    Actually, good question. :)

I would think winning 10 games is more of an accomplishment for this season (as the article states), than one Holiday Bowl win

You would think that, until you looked at their schedule. I probably could've won 8 of those games.

I read this on another board. How could Simms be left off this list? He decided the national championship game. Crouch should share his # 8 with Simms. Without Simms' 4 turnovers in 30 mins, Crouch would be lucky to be playing in the Cotton.

You would think that, until you looked at Major's career. Every year that Major started we lost to one of those teams we definitely should've beaten-- NC State, Stanford, etc.

yeah, but this year UT was probably more talented... with 2 probable top 10 picks in the NFL draft, and 2 amazing receivers...

The difference is that HE didn't lose any of those games by himself (except KSU '99). These are IMPACT players -- positive impact players. None of the players listed, I assume, single-handedly lost their teams any games. Put any average QB in the Texas offense and we probably win the 10 games we did, because all of them were won on the defensive end and through the running game.

would it be at all possible to request a no major/simms discusson moratorium for the year 2002?

it's over. let's all just let it go.

now. . . if anyone is ready to begin the simms/young controversy, I'm all over it.

Agreed. BTW, if you visit Ketch's board, it looks like VY to UT is a done deal.

He got a standing ovation at the UT basketball game last night and flashed the hook em sign.

any board that will tell me that Young to UT is a done deal is a board I want to visit.

    VINCE!!!

p.s. when you say he got a standing O at the b-ball game. . . did they announce to the audience he was there, or what? how did that happen?

go to www.hornfans.com or www.texas.rivals.com. The recruiting board at hornfans has a clip of it happening. I'm not sure they announced it, but from all the people that were there, they said he had a big smile and had the hookem horns sign up during the Eyes.

Most insiders that I trust on those boards (as in they don't spout info for attention) have said VY committed to the coaches. These guys have never been wrong before. They said expect an announcement today or tomorrow.

I'd just like to point out that Vincent Young has said he wants to redshirt his first year, so he can learn the system, which I think is a good idea. He's got great athletic ability, but he has some minor technical problems with his throwing style(which were mitigated by his arm strength in high school), and it couldn't hurt to get him to learn the playbook and game a year early.

So there is no Simms/Young controversy.
