    Hey Clutch,

Would it be possible to add mlb.com to the list of easy embeds, like youtube etc...just post the link code and it does the rest? This would be great for the rest of the Astros season and into the postseason and hopefully beyond, we can look at highlights of the games that way.

    Cheers.

Astros fans are spoiled. NBA.com doesn't work, either. :D

@Clutch : The BBS Media Button does list MLB as supported, but then won't let you proceed once you click EMBED. So, presumably, it was supported at one time.

Also, at MLB, if you click the embed code button vs the link button (on a video), it gives you an IFRAME with a streamable URL. That URL won't work, either, appears blocked if referenced from another site. Looks like MLB is redirecting to a restricted streamable account, which only allows viewing from MLB or by entering the URL directly into a browser location (or embeded IFRAME).

Here's an example of entering the streamable address for a MLB video. But pasting into browser, works.

fwiw: ESPN works as described by @Buck Turgidson. It used to not work.

Layman translation: both MLB and NBA are listed in the bbs list of sites supported (see the Media button), but testing in the HP Lab indicates MLB is eluding the bbs software now. So, it's likely out of Clutch's control. Doesn't even appear a bbs update will do anything, due to the first vid above indicating the streamable.com site is blocking access.

That said: if Clutch turns on the HTML code feature for the Astros forum, then the EMBED code (vs Link) from MLB will indeed work. Maybe y'all can ask him very nicely to turn it through the WS.

You know how videos offer two options: a button to copy a Link, and a button to copy Embed code? Go look at a MLB vid and the share buttons. The Embed button is a bunch of HTML code (with an IFRAME). It's how we used to share Youtube vids here, remember? It why old threads have all that gobbledygook prior to the new BBS software. Once before, Clutch had the HTML support feature turned ON. Now, since the software supports such an easy (html-free) method to share videos and images, we no longer need HTML support, and all the pre-newBBS YT shares render as their underlying HTML embed code (gobbledygook).

bottomline: Turning off HTML code is something Clutch chose to do for a reason. He always has a good reason. Turning it on for the Astros forum so you can embed the super High Res MLB.com vids through the WS for the World Champion is something he might be persuaded to do. But it might confuse users, as my explanation probably confused you, again.

fwiw: Due to all the trolls in the GARM, I'm in favor of keeping HTML code turned off there. And even actual bot trolls. Think what Sofia could do in the GARM. :)

I don’t understand anything he says either when it comes to technology , but you have to give HeyP an A for effort
