Biden has shown remarkable restraint, given the egregious behavior of Trump and his Congressional enablers. Now that Congress has certified the EC vote and that the GA Senate races are over, Biden can have a more firm hand publicly in leading the nation. Part of me desperately wants Biden to slap Trump’s b****, every time Trump gets out of line. Biden should publicly state that Trump can not pardon himself, that the Biden DoJ will prosecute Trump’s crimes to the fullest, etc. But ... Biden’s job one is to un-**** everything that Trump has ****ed up, starting with the vaccine rollout. Going hard against Trump only keeps Trump relevant, allowing Trump to try to continue winning the 24 news cycles.
Biden can keep quiet, do his job as president and fix Trumps mess at the same time let his DOJ and states go hard on Trump
My view of Biden is that he really does see himself as a unifying figure and as such he really does want to reach out to Trump supporters. From his standpoint going tit for tat with Trump especially while the his election was inexorably getting confirmed and reconfirmed would've been a distraction and unhelpful to what he was trying to do. Like the rest of us this past week has probably made him realize how dangerous Trump and Trumpism is and that it needs to be confronted more directly.
I think Biden won't reference Trump as president but he will allow the DOJ to go ham on Trump unless there are some pardoning shenanigans.
