I guess this is when all the nay-sayers, come out against this move. But he should be fine for the start of the season. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9239232/ed-reed-houston-texans-undergoes-hip-surgery-report
Typical veteran move. Timing off-season surgery so that you miss offseason activities (which are really for the younger guys anyway). Pretty smart.
Yeah Ed Reed in a sense reminds me of how Steve McNair used to be (R.I.P.), he almost always had an injury he was trying to play through. And when the off-season would finally come, he would be getting rehab and surgery for all sorts of stuff.
Eh, as long as he is good to go for training camp, he can schedule appearances in a Japanese dance competition for all I care.
You would think he would have scheduled surgery shortly after the season ended. He didn't, but just in time to keep him out of the non mandatory camp. Camp is useful when you are a new team though. I remember in 2010 when he had the first surgery, he ended up on the PUP and missed the first 6 games
He'll be 35 when the season starts and recovering from his 2nd hip surgery. Not exactly something to look forward to. After doing some internet research on this type of surgery I will be very surprised if he is ready for the start of the season.
The signing was a gamble from the start. This doesn't make it more of a gamble. It only confirms in my mind that it's a gamble.
Internet research is useless when you have no idea about the extent of the labral tear. The specifics of each individual injury make being an internet doctor impossible. A lot of internet doctors told me Schaub would 100 percent not be ready for training camp let alone the season last year. I guarantee you he timed this so he would not have to take part in anything until training camp.
