I’m happy for the Raptors fans. Those guys go all out for their team no matter what. To have such disappointments in the playoffs year after year, yet they still go hard for their team. Pretty amazing.

I had a feeling the Raptors were taking the series as soon as I saw this before the game. Raptors fans DGAF, lol.

Kawhi is actually not much talented. He has developed to where he is today step by step. He is living proof of what can be achieved with sheer hardwork.

He gambled and the gamble paid off. Could have as easily gone wrong.

So when others get it right it was luck, but when Morey gets it wrong Morey is still genius.

    Got it.

he got out of Derozan’s contract and gave up Poeltl who is nothing special in order to acquire the best player in their franchise’s history and create the best team in franchise history...genius move all around, and the exact type of move franchises like Toronto have to make if they want to get to the next level

he even got Danny Green in the deal...EOY easy if u ask me

A gamble is a gamble - It doesnt make anyone a genius or a moron

Philly gambled with Butler and Harris but it was a lucky/unlucky bounce away from working out. If that shot had not gone in, no one would be calling Masai a genius.

That was more of Spurs not wanting to send Kawhi to other teams that were presenting better offers, not like if Masai saw value that others missed.

it was genius from the get go. swapped out a fringe all star for a proven mvp caliber player. the only thing that was criticized was he gave up derozan who was obviously committed to that city. but its a business. DD had his chance plenty of times but he isn't that type of player that kawhi is and never will be

No I am not. Almost every great thing about Kawhi's game today was developed not inherent.

As you have described, on face value, even an idiot knows Kawhi is worth more than DeRozan. The only question was if Kawhi would commit long term and/or if the single season success would make it worth it. That they were one shot away from losing in the second round to Philly, and all indications that Kawhi wouldnt have stayed at that point, shows that it was indeed a gamble.

Almost every other GM would have made that trade, and a few even made better offers than Raptors, but Masai and Raptors were fortunate enough to fit what the Spurs wanted.

But that's talent - being able to develop something to that level. There is something like ceiling and Kawhi don't have one. Plus mental is talent too - he is so cold and hardworking. It isn't something you can attain, you have to be born with it

That is not talent - talent is a natural (i.e. inherent) aptitude or skill.

If he was talented, he wouldnt have had to work so hard to acquire those skills. In fact, if he had not been sent to the Spurs, I doubt he would have developed into the player we know today.

We just have different perspective. Im sure that even if i trained for 100 years i wouldnt have skill like Kawhi. Talent is ability 'picking things up'. Nobody can shoot midrange fadeaway just by going out of their moms :)

Nice of you to take the discussion totally out of context.

Of course, his 'lack' of talent is within the scope of the NBA and relative to what is considered talented in that context. There is no basis for extrapolating it to the general populace.

Its like saying Lowry is a short player and you arguing that he is much taller than the average guy
