The Rockets were very slow in terms of double teaming against Chris Webber and that really hurt them. I have noticed a trend this season where the Rockets defense takes way too long to come over on the double team. This happened for a chunk of the Portland game as well where Wallace just went off for a certain stretch of the game. Players like Chris Webber and Rasheed Wallace will absolutely torch KT or Mo in a one on one situation, and the defense needs to come over to help more quickly. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
i agree MManal. any good player that is a post and/ or franchise player absolutely lights us up. lets review past few games mcdyess - 40 pts nowitzki- 35 pts. webber - 36 pts. we cant stop any main focus of an offense IMO. ------------------ --TEX [This message has been edited by TeXaSalsa (edited December 09, 2000).]
I think they did not double because the Kings are all such good passers. Sacremento is a REALLY good team. I can't wait until the Rockets can match them, but at this rate it may be 3 or 4 years. ARGH !!! DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from Monkeys and Apes, then why are there still Monkeys and apes?
That waited till Webber was on....when confidence was up for Kings, once that happened the 3s are going to rain if you double...had to double, but didn't want to switch off of Jason W. cause he was shooting like mad man....yet the set for Kings was geared towards Williams getting rotated off of or his man double teaming.... Call me naive if you must, =) ------------------
The Kings as a team only shoot 32.8% from 3ville (Williams is a horrible 21.6). Last night without Webber's 1 attempt, they shot 50% from behind the arc. Excluding Webber, they shot 32.7% from inside the arc. Not only was the double late or non-existent, it would appear the rotation was poor as well. ------------------ GATER
The double teams were extremely slow last night...it also doesn't help that much having one of three small guards trying to double Webber down in the post. Thats what Rudy gives up by going with Moochie so much instead of Anderson, IMO. I still can't figure out why Hakeem wasn't assigned to guard Webber, though. Gater, thats right, the Kings went balistic from behind the 3 point line something they normally do not succeed in doing. Also at the same time the Rockets only made a deplorable 2 of 13 treys. That usually does not happen as well. Considering all this we still had a chance to win. ------------------
I agree let them rain 3s instead of letting Webber dominate, yet on the road a simple three can break your back when your battling back...it's really a lose lose situation...reminds me of our Rockets...either let Hakeem get his or let the whole team get theirs...if the shooting is on then it will be a long game no matter what, Hakeem whoops you or the 3 point shooters do....Kings were shooting good..8-17 from 3... (of course I'm speaking from the perspective of battling in 4th quarter for comeback, the 3rd killed us...they inched away slowly but surely) ------------------
Totally agree with you, MManal. A quicker more effective Webber doubleteam is the only thing that might have given us chance to win. Like Bill said during the game "make someone else beat you". The Kings were swinging the ball very well out of the 2team and making their 3s and jumpers. Fine. Let the 3s rain down. Make their jump shooter beat us. You gotta doubleteam Webber. ------------------ I miss Charles.
