Could be a nice rotation player for us. Really good defender with a 7 ft wingspan and can shoot at a decent clip.
pillow and blanket are already out...gimme more Jeff Green types that are versatile and can do a little bit of everything
it's a decent gamble, but given he tore his achilles I'm definitely pinning about zero hope on him making a difference right up to the moment he actually does anything.
David Nwaba blew out his achilies towards the end of December. He will have had almost an entire year to recover before the start of next season. He was having an exceptional season with the Nets when he got hurt. The Nets were similar to the Rockets in how they did something offensively. Nwaba is an exceptional perimeter defender that has great size at 6'5" with a 7'0" wingspan. He is an elite athlete. He hasn't stuck anywhere before the Nets because his shooting was inconsistent and they were not using him properly as a role player. If Nwaba is healthy, he will play a really big role on the Rockets, especially if Kenny Atkinson is named the Rockets coach.
Nwaba,Covington, Tucker all are very good to elite defenders, the Rockets will likely try to add another really good defensive wing to that group, ideally someone with more size.... House and Harden are above average as well.... So we are getting some of the pieces to defend really well. There will be a good defensive 5 if the Rockets decide to spend their MLE going that route (Lopez, Noel, Plumlee, Whiteside, McGee, Stein) and there are some good possible 4/5 that they can hope they attract for the MLE like Favors, Millsap, Thompson, Grant, Green. I have to admit though, there is part of me that hopes that go after Kris Dunn, because he can lock down anyone. DeAnthony Melton would be another nice free agent. A lot of these guys will not be available at the Rockets price, but a few may be.
Decent size, good wingspan, can create off the dribble, good finisher near the rim, inconsistent shot from outside... Ladies and gentleman, we have found a cheap EG replacement! Commencing trade countdown in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...
