Dominion files $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News

I’m disappointed we didn’t get the chance to see Rupert Murdoch, Carlson, etc publicly testify to why they knowingly put on guest that they knew to be lying.

 

Oh ****. They got rid of it. It wasn't there for a while. Then it was the 4th or 5th article down. Now it isn't on the front page again.

 

I don't know what Fox said. I don't know what CNN, MSNBC, or whichever shows Lemon is on said. Outside of this forum, I don't know what anyone else said about this settlement. Those were all my original thoughts. I do suggest not listening to someone who just paid three-quarters of a billion dollars for lying.

 

At best, it may help on the margins but at this point if you are still knee deep in election conspiracies then it's a nonevent or worse it just validates the deep state to the morons.

Murdoch has deep pockets.

The News of the World phone hacking scandal has cost them close to $2 billion. Maybe it will eventually hit over that mark as more victims come forward. They want to pay out to avoid going to court.

 

If fox is innocent they would never pay 790m. Folks with common sense can see this sht, but others would turn a blind eye after a vague statement like "We acknowledge the Court's rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false".

Maybe next time they would b more wary spreading fake news

 

The Fox side of his business generates $3 billion/yr. That's profits and not total revenue. They're paying up 800 mil to keep on making 3b/yr. They're not making 3b/yr if they change the formula.

 

It's funny that Fox didn't really get nailed for their lies.

They ran on Trump's claims because refuting them would piss on their 3B/yr formula and didn't want viewers to get hooked on Newsmax and OANN. They saw their numbers drop when they called Arizona for Biden and defended their numbers guy.

It's sad and ironic that the dreams and fabrications Fox News peddled took a life of it's own, and anyone savvy enough to control it can insert their arm up Rupert's cornhole and make him squeal the juiciest of tales.

 

What an embarrassing mea culpa. Unfortunately, there’s a LOT of stupid people who have the exact same vote as the rest of us who will find a way to dismiss this. Talk about a broke system…..

I don't think there was ever a thought that the monetary damage would bring him or Fox News down. It's huge for Dominion though.

The Smartmatic trial is up next. You might still get an opportunity (although I bet Fox will settle that one too). I imagine Smartmatic will demand the same or similar settlement amount or they'll go to trial. This is going to turn into a shakedown of Fox.
